Hoop de Doo or Luau?

I will be in Disney at the end of April and I am trying to decide whether to so the Luau or the Hoop De Doo. I am going to be there with my girlfirend who has never done either. We are doing a girls weekend without the kids or hubbys. I have done the Hoop de Doo and loved it. I would be willing to do it again

What do you reccomend??

The luau is fun but the Hoop de Doo will always win with me! I like the food and the show better. We usually do the Hoop de Doo every year, and we tried the luau for a change a few years back and probably won't do it again. Nothing necessarily wrong with it though!

We have enjoyed both. Luau usually gets bad reviews, but we thought it was good. The story line is cheesy, but the dancing is great. You could also have fun talking about the male dancers if it is a girls weekend. There is not so much interaction with the audience at the Luau. Have a great time.

Luau Fire dancer is awesome! Story line is cheesy, yes, but we went not expecting one so it didn't matter to us. We were there for the dancing and were not disappointed. Hoop De Doo is ok, but its not my "must do again" list.

HDDR - hands down in my book!
The SoA was just OK - wouldn't even consider repeating it.
We do HDDR on our first night, every trip.

Done both. Both are fun, but if I had to pick one, it would be Hoop De Do every time. It's just a blast. We always do it on our arrival day\night, and think it's a GREAT way to kick off a vacation!

HDDR in my book. I think it might be the only dinner at WDW where adult beverages are included in your meal.

We hated the Luau (I've made numerous posts about it over the years).

Also, last time I stayed at the Polynesian, we were getting of the monorail and saw a cast member holding a sign that said the Luau had been canceled due to bad weather. I thought, "Man, that must suck to get off the monorail and see that!"

Okay, I will be contrary. We LOVE the Luau! Been twice and it has changed. Most recently went on 9/11/09 and had a nice time. The food has always been good for us and the show is fun. When we saw it in September, the show was more about the dances of the Islands than about the story. It was very nice.

But you decide for yourself - Whatever you chose, I hope you have fun!

We've done both multiple times and MUCH prefer HDDR (we like SoA, LOVE HDDR!!). You can catch the torch lighting ceremony at the Poly and see the BEST part of the SoA, the fire twirler!

I think you will enjoy whatever you choose.

My family has done both and I gotta say that we are hooked on HOOP DE DOO.
