Hoop-de-DO or Hoop-de-DON'T?

I've never been to the Hoop De Do and am just curious - is it related to Disney in anyway? What I mean is, are there any Disney characters or anything? Are you reminded that you are still in Disney? Or is it just basically a Western show? :confused3

Nope, not related to Disney really (except for being at there resort) no characters... More of a vodville type of show, definately entertaining! First time we went my sons were 5 and 7 and they loved it!

Boma
The Coral Reef Restaurant
The Brown Derby
and Hoop-de-do (Is hoop a little kid thing or will two adults still get a good time out of it? .... granted, it is disney, how could I not have a good time..... but still....)

any input would be great! thanks

Boma - Do!...this is a must for us every trip. We love the exotic flavors. Also, there's a more American type area that kids will like, the mac-n-cheese, chicken strips, spaghetti, etc.
Coral Reef - Don't...I love seafood but from our experience it was not good at all.
Brown Derby - Do! The Cobb Salad is the best ever and if your server offers to toss it for you, say yes and he will tell you the story of how the cobb salad was invented.
Hoop-dee-doo - Do...The slapstick comedy is really geared toward adults. Think along the lines of Hee-Haw.

Sure it's corny, Sure the food is just average, but it just plain fun. Best Dinner show at Disney IMO. If you haven't done La Noube, it might be up your alley if you are not into corny, unbearable, jokes. Me, I loved both of them.

We must be the complete opposite. Bomas was excellent! The food is a great way to experience something from another culture while still having the conveniance of the comfort foods. The ambiance is great and truly has a great disney feel with an african touch.

Hoop dee doo was a total waste. I grew up in KY so I know corny and I love country things. However I could not believe they charged that much for food that was no better than Golden Corral. The alcohol (if you want to call it that) had to be the cheapest out there. The show was long and I kept looking at my watch for when it would end. I kept thinking after the show that I paid to see this while I could go into the park and see a show that was 10 times better and it was included in my MYW passes! I guess that is why disney is so great it has something for everyone, but in my opinion (which is apparently the minority) save your money for a nice dinner and go see the Lion King at animal kingdom.;)

Hey bud, don't paint all of us Kaintuckians with that brush. I know corn too, and this is a-one first class corn. And I've never had chicken or ribs half that good at the Corral. The beer is Bud Light-what more folks drink than anything. I have been about 7 times and will make it 8 this September.

I say do it, but beware of the sangria. :cool2: :rotfl:

My DH and I did it when we were in college, and unlimited drink was a huge deal then. I honestly don't remember the bus ride back to ASM. Appearently we got on the wrong bus, ended up at the Poly, I got sick in the bathroom there, and then we finally got home. I don't remember any of it. :sad2:

I can honestly say that though I had fun in my 20's I've never do it again.

Back on topic - It is a really fun, corny show and everyone should do it once. On the other hand, if you are spending 2 credits, I would do the Luau instead. It is an amazing show and the food is very good

I've done both shows and I have to say the Luau didn't wow me. You can get some pretty crummy seats there (we did) and the food wasn't any better than the HDDR, in fact the dessert was a huge letdown. At least with the HDDR, no matter where you sit, it feels up close and personal. But I think you should see each show at least once. With the HDDR, I will see it again, the Luau, once was enough.

Our family loved Hoop-De-Doo. The other two adults in our group did not. If you like over the top silliness, you'll probably enjoy it. BTW, I loved the chicken and strawberry shortcake at HDD. I thought the sangria was awful.

I also loved Boma (except for the desserts). These two dinners were my favorites on our first trip even though they are completely different.

the strawberry shortcake is very good and "SIX BITS" ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

Hoop-de-do was so much fun.
I loved it.

I was 17 when I saw it.

Hoop de Yesiree! SO fun for "kids" of all ages...Great, picnic fare food - all you can drink Sangria...corny jokes...audience participation...the chance to play a washboard...what's not to like?!

Your other choices are great too. We love Boma - the atmosphere is terrific and the buffet is different and delicious. Plus if you like wine - they have a fantastic African wine selection. We also love the Brown Derby! We went for lunch - had a fantastic waiter, an amazing Cobb Salad. I even got the hostess to bring a phone to the table to have Mickey wish my husband Happy Birthday! Plus - if you're interested, you can get that special Fantasmic seating package at the Brown Derby.

You'll have a blast.

We love the Hoop-dee-doo. I'd gone once with my family when I was a teen and we had fun (but we love that silly stuff). My DH was totally *not* into going because he *hates* anything country/western or "Hee-haw"-ish... but we went anyway and even he enjoyed it. In fact, he said it was one of his favorite meals of our trip. :)

It's now Sept but I just read this thread. I'm wondering how you and your Mom liked the show. I'm also 2 adults, no kids, going in Nov. And what did you think of Boma? It's one of my favorites. They actually sent me some recipes that I asked for and were in my email by the time I returned home. Hope you had fun.

You will enjoy the Hoop-Dee-Doo-Revue. I was there with two other adults. We had a blast. We did not buy the tickets on the floor. We sat on the balcony. Not forced to be part of the 'act'.:thumbsup2

Do the Coral Reef. It is a very special place. The other places I have not had the chance to dine there.;)

Hoop-de DO- at least once. Corny, but fun, and the food isn't bad. Not great, but okay:)
