Many of you guys have expressed an interest in doing something tangible to honor Noah and his family during this difficult time.

If you are clicking this thread from the Community Board and you don't know Noah, here are some links to check out.

Noah's Blog

Noah's Make a Wish Trip Report (in progress)

Many of us have been following Noah's story since last fall and want to do something tangible to honor this very special little boy.

Noah passed away at the young age of 3 on July 29. But he touched so many lives.

Help us brainstorm some creative ways to honor Noah.

PS - If you have not seen his video...you MUST check it out... it is on this BLOG on the July 29th date. TISSUE ALERT...this video makes me cry every single time I see it.

Here are the ideas for ways to honor Noah -

:littleangel: GKTW donations :littleangel:

I just got off the phone with GKTW and we have a plan for donations...You will go to this website...

https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/GiveKidstheWorld/OnlineGiving.html

Which is the regular online giving site. (This is tax deductible, if you are interested in that and the donation will of course show up as your donation.)

In the COMMENTS section at the bottom of the form, type this...

"PAVER FOR NOAH"

The actual donation will go in the paver fund at GKTW. Once we reach $200, I will provide the information to GKTW that we want to have show up on the paver. This will be a stone with Noah's name, etc and I will have Nichole (Noah's Mom) tell us what information she would like to show up on the paver.

If we don't reach $200 - I will make up whatever amt we need. I have friends here that would love to donate to GKTW, too...so we will definitely make it to $200.

If we get above and beyond $200, then we can look at doing a plaque, etc for Noah and GKTW will help us with this.

If we get above and beyond that...we have other wish children that have passed away that are children of other DISers and it would be awesome to do a paver for each of those children. :littleangel: :littleangel: :littleangel:

Cards to the Family

I now have their address...If you would like it to send them a card, please PM me and I can get it to you. It is their home address, so I don't want to just post it. She said they would love to get some cards.

The names of the family members... Mom is Nichole (with an H, I always forget the H!) - Dad is Brad - Brother is Joshua and Sister is Kailyn.

Noah's brother and sister were particularly kind to him. It can be so hard to be a sibling of a special needs child, but truly Joshua and Kailyn were great siblings to sweet Noah. Watching them play on the day I met them was a highlight of my trip.

Ok...

here are the ideas I have so far....

1. Donate to Give Kids the World through their secure fundraising website. The goal would be to collect enough donations to at least donate a "paver" in his honor. I have talked to GKTW and I know we will be making this an option...

2. Figure out how to donate money to get a real star named in his honor. One of the things they do at GKTW is put a star in the sky for each wish child that stays at GKTW. This is a very special thing for the family as it is timeless.

Noah's family strongly believes that every star in the sky was created by a loving God and I think it would be very cool to honor Noah by donating money to whatever organization names the stars so that we could get a star - a real star - named after Noah.

I have no idea how to accomplish #2. Any ideas??

and

3. Send a card shower to Noah's family. I have emailed his mother to get a good address to send cards.

I am subbing to this to see what we all can do. I am so sad to hear about this.

Maroo-

Thanks for starting this thread. I certainly would love to participate in the card shower and donate to whichever item is chosen for donations. Naming a star is anywhere from $54 to $155 (plus S&H). I believe the cost for purchasing a paver is $200. Please let me know how I can help.

Hey Mary!

I will donate to whichever cause you guys decide to go with and would love to send a card as well. I think a star or a paver would be great!

Hope you are hanging in there!
:hug:Jen

I will check this often. Please let us know anyway that we can help. My family would be more than happy to help in anyway we can. We have been following Noah's story for so long and our hearts are full or hurt right now. Any help we can give...we will.

:goodvibes Thank you for telling me that Webmaster Corey added this smilie in honor of Noah!

:littleangel:

Wow!

I am so glad you guys are interested in this!!

:littleangel:

Ok...regarding name a star...

Check this link out...and tell me what you guys think...

http://www.iau.org/public_press/themes/buying_star_names/

I found a site where you can "name" one for free.

But the bottom lines seems to be that you can't officially really name a star. Someone basically sends you a picture of star and tells you it is yours...

So...I am leaning toward a straight donation to GKTW and see if we can get enough small donations (or large ones if you just want to support GKTW and you have not had the opportunity to do so already) to do a Paver in Noah's honor.

We know where that money is going...to a wonderful, magical place that Noah and his family LOVED...and that other children will also love.

So I am thinking put our focus there?

And I think sending cards to their church is a great idea!! I will work on getting that address!

ITA about the star naming Maroo - the first link I provided was only $19.95 and if it gives comfort or joy to someone, I dont have a problem with that - but to honor Noah, and Give Kids the World - that would have a lot of meaning!!

I have no idea what the setup is like at GKTW, so this may be a totally silly idea.

Since Noah loved Tigger, maybe we could get the large Tigger plush available at WDW and take it to GKTW. Maybe, they would be willing to set it somewhere in their lobby with a little plaque honoring Noah. Sorry if this is a dumb idea.

I will go with whatever you guys decide, I only know that I want to do something.
I think the paver is a good idea though, it is something that will be there for the foreseeable future, a reminder of Noah, the sweet little peanut

I think it is a beautiful idea to honor a beautiful little boy.:littleangel:

I thinking naming a star is a money making gimick.
All stars (if you believe so) are made by God (or by a scientific process).

If it gives comfort to the family to believe that Noah is a star in heaven, I think that is wonderful.

I think money donated would be of most use here on earth. His church or GKTW.

MANDY!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the thread hijack...(can I hijack my own thread?)

But how is Becca?!?!!?

I've come out of lurkdom with tears in my eyes but excited at the idea of honoring Noah's short but beautiful life. Count me in. I just started reading the TR this morning. Thank you.

I didn't follow the story but when I read this post, I went and looked at the blog, etc. and I was in tears. I would try to help in whatever way I can.

Poor baby, our thoughts and prayers are with this family

I think that is a great idea, we'll be there in Oct. so maybe we can bring one too.
