My DH and I took a trip to Hong Kong about a week ago. I love Disney and decided that we had to stop at the HKDL. The conceirge at our hotel recommended taking the train to DL, b/c it's the only train in the world that is completely decorated Disney. I'm not sure if that's true after seeing the Tokyo pictures, but that might have been a monorail in the DL there. Anyways, the Disney train is connected to a main HK train line, which was really cool. The train had Mickey Mouse shaped windows and the handlebars inside the train to hold onto were also shaped like Mickey. The train also had statues of many of the characters inside glass cases. It was really pretty and awesome! I definitely had the Disney feel even before we got to DL!
Once we arrived, there was a large fountain with all different Disney characters. In the middle of the fountain was a large whale with a ton of water coming out of it's blowhole. On the top of the water was Mickey riding a surfboard. It was really cool. The surf board would also move up and down. There were also a ton of other characters around the fountain. I did see Daisy, but I was so excited to go inside the park I didn't really check out the others!
The entrance to DL is exactly like MK at WDW, only it's smaller. The entire DL is actually very small. We walked down Main Street USA and a few of the shops were open. I was slightly disappointed because I wanted an ornament but unfortunately they only sell them during the holiday season, unlike MK and MGM which both have year round stores open, I believe. Most of the (Chinese) people there all really into wearing headbands with ears of their favorite characters. They sold the hairbands everywhere!!!!! The DL had a really nice feel to it. All the people who worked at DL were really nice to us and definitely were into the whole Disney vibe just like WDW.
Main Street USA feels like it was about 1/4 as long as the WDW one. We walked out of it pretty quickly and then headed onto Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland has the Buzz Light year ride as well as Space Mountain. I don't want to ruin any of the rides for anyone potentially going so if you don't want to read what's next, scroll down!

Space Mountain is completely in the dark, however there are no sudden drops. It almost feels as though you are going in a horizontal circle continually. It's a lot of fun, but definitely different. Buzz was exactly the same as the one in WDW.

Interestingly, all the rides are in English. I think most Chinese people are bilingual. We also ate lunch in Tomorrowland at the Starliner Diner. I had a teriayki chicken sandwich and my husband had a burger. We also split a salad that had adorable Mickey croutons! A lot of the food there was standard Chinese food. I am the world's pickiest eater so even the teriayki chicken sandwich was a stretch for me! If you are interested in having Chinese food while you are in DL there are plenty of restaurants. Also, Chinese food is nothing like "American" Chinese food. So if you're thinking you like Chinese food, you're probably not thinking of the real thing.
