Honeymoon

Both exH and current DH would have LOVED such a honeymoon. I’d be OK with it too.

Many of our trips were fully or partly hockey based. Tampa and Sunrise, FL was done a few times, most recently this past March, including a Carolina Hurricanes game on the way to Florida.

Then there were a few LA Kings/Anaheim Ducks visits during Southern California vacations.

Toronto/Buffalo.

Boston/Hartford Whalers. The same day. Bruins matinee, Whalers at night. When we were young and crazy.

Rangers/Islanders/Devils in 4 days.

We also did a few similar baseball trips.

We had discussed all of the "typical" honeymoons - Hawaii, Caribbean, Europe, etc. for several weeks and they just all felt blah. I casually mentioned doing something hockey related and DH had the whole thing booked within days. His hockey teammates were very jealous...especially when they learned it was MY idea. We had nice romantic days in Quebec City at the beginning and Montreal at the end and then a whole lot of hockey goodness in the middle. We also made the smart decision to leave for the honeymoon a few weeks after the wedding. DH ended up getting very sick and there would have been no way he would have been able to travel the next day or two after the wedding.

We had a 70's Poconos honeymoon, but in 1996. :lmao:

We were sooo young. I had just graduated & started working 2 & a half months before our wedding. So I couldn’t take much time off & we didn’t have much money. We were married on Saturday & I had to be back at work on Thursday. We drove to Toronto for a few nights in an affordable hotel. For our 1st anniversary we spent 5 nights in one of the Pocono Mt area all inclusive honeymoon resorts. Round bed, private pool in the suite & shag carpet. Ahhh, the 70s. :lmao:

We had two.

We got married on the 4th of July, but I always wanted to go to WDW for my birthday, which is Christmas week. So that's what we scheduled. We stayed at French Quarter for 5 nights, then what was supposed to be 4 nights in a Honeymoon Room at Wilderness Lodge. What we got was Christmas Eve night upgrade to the Yellowstone Suite:love:and 3 nights in the Honeymoon Room.

However, friends of DH got married the week before we did, and a month or two before our weddings called us up and asked if we wanted to go Disneyland. So we threw together a last minute trip that we took immediately after our wedding.

Walt Disney World - my first time ever! (DH had been as a kid, but as day trips when visiting his grandparents in Florida.)

We stayed offsite at the Parkway international. - His folks belonged to a time-share in another state, but it had a network where you could trade weeks with other locations, and they gave us the week as a wedding present pixiedust: so we only had to pay for our airfare, food, and park stuff.

Animal Kingdom wasn't open yet, but we did the other three parks, plus Typhoon Lagoon and SeaWorld. I also remember the castle being decorated as a big birthday cake. :cake: - Undeterred, we've been back eight times since. :goodvibes

Your date must be close to ours. We were married outside the Polynesian and the pink birthday cake castle is in the background of our photos. We were married 8/3/96.

We went to WDW staying at POFQ for 6 nights. We were thinking of staying for 7 or 8 nights at YC or GF. However DH's oldest Sister was temporarily working in London. We decided to save money & visit her for 5 nights 6 months later ( May in London beats November ).

I was 21 and he came home one day, said he had military orders for Korea, and he wanted to get married. So soon after, we got married by a semi-retired magistrate at the county jail since the court was closed for Columbus Day. We drove to Pinehurst, ate at Outback, and worked the next day. I spent our first year of marriage alone since Korea was an unaccompanied assignment. I think we went to Vegas not long after his return.

Going strong after 25 years.

August 1982 - Disney World for several days and then Paradise Island Bahamas for several. Just got off of the Disney Wish to celebrate our 40th!
