Honeymoon

We are both big hockey fans so we did a hockey "themed" honeymoon. We flew to Montreal, stayed a night and in the morning, we took the train up to Quebec City to stay at the Chateau Frontenac - such an amazing hotel. We did a few days exploring Quebec City and then started the hockey portion - train to Ottawa for a game, then to Toronto for a couple of days - drove to Buffalo for a game, went to the Hockey Hall of Fame, Maple Leafs game, arena tour, TSN Studios tour, etc. Then we went back to Montreal for a Canadiens game, arena tour, and stayed a few extra days to just explore the city. It was an amazing trip, but as a native California girl, I froze my butt off...and it was in April! I don't know if it was unseasonably cold or what, but I remember just being sooooo cold!!
Both exH and current DH would have LOVED such a honeymoon. I’d be OK with it too.

Many of our trips were fully or partly hockey based. Tampa and Sunrise, FL was done a few times, most recently this past March, including a Carolina Hurricanes game on the way to Florida.

Then there were a few LA Kings/Anaheim Ducks visits during Southern California vacations.

Toronto/Buffalo.

Boston/Hartford Whalers. The same day. Bruins matinee, Whalers at night. When we were young and crazy.

Rangers/Islanders/Devils in 4 days.

We also did a few similar baseball trips.

I doubt they’ll go to Japan for their honeymoon. She’s willing to go a few years in the future.

And she’s The Boss. Happy wife, happy life. ::yes::

Poor college students. We didn't go anywhere.

DS went on a Caribbean cruise (that we paid for....their present.....along with many other things we paid for)

Disney. We were originally looking at the Poconos, but my dad surprised the crap out of us by taking us to his travel agent and paying for airfare, hotel (192 Quality Inn or something like it), and car rental. His part was a little over $900. We had a great time. (1990)

We went to Hawaii for 10 days — Kauai and Big Island. Our honeymoon was delayed until 6 months after we were married as my husband was in the middle of a year long fellowship post-residency. We were married in the middle of the desert in December 2018 with just immediate family in attendance.

Not Tokyo, unless it's a dream for both of them.

We did Premier Cruise Lines (before it was the Big Red Boat...) with 4 days in the Bahamas (we chose the Abacos Out Islands) and 3 days in Disney. We also didn't go right afterward -- we took a 4 day trip to Williamsburg right after (late May), and then had the cruise in December. It was also over 32 years ago.
We did the same trip in late December of 1990, but there was a storm and we had to divert to Nassau instead of the Abacos.

My DH had literally never been on a vacation and couldn't fathom going to Hawaii, etc. One evening he was over and I was glancing through a magazine and saw the ad for the big red boat/Disney. His eyes immediately lit up and he was IN! The boat was a boat, not a huge ship like now, but we loved every minute of it. We talked about taking family every 10 years. For our anniversary 10 years later we took the kids on DCL. We did a trip to WDW for our 20th too but put off our 30th for obvious reasons and still haven't planned that trip yet.

How wild! We went the week before Christmas in 1990! Small world.

DH was seasick for a couple of days, so it was a bummer. He later learned that orienting his equilibrium by stepping on deck and watching the horizon would've helped.

We were probably on the next trip, We got married on the 22nd and were on our WDW days on Christmas. I was seasick the first day. We went to dinner, but probably only about 1/3 of the people did. I was sad they had to change the itinerary, but the rolling motion got much better when they did!

We got married on a Saturday, stayed in an overpriced hotel for the night and went back to work on the Monday.
This is exactly what we did. I am a teacher and we got married in the summer, so I was off, but DH didn't really have any vacation time, so he took off Friday to help get things ready and then was back to work on Monday.

When 18yo me thought she was going to actually get married to the father of her (yet born) daughter. The plan, in my mind, was to go to Disneyland for the honeymoon.

We went to the Honeymoon Capital of the World - Niagara Falls! We loved it. It was 52 years ago. We were very young- 20 and 23, and had a budget of $200. We had a camper trailer and I declared that we’d go back someday and stay in a fancy hotel. (We did - for our thirtieth anniversary. Stayed at a fabulous Fallsview Hotel overlooking the Falls.) We also went to Toronto for a couple of nights and DH went in to check us into the motel and came out and said it was $13, was that okay? 😂 It was an okay motel. Don’t worry, since then we’ve had many fabulous trips over the years. Europe, Hawaii, Disney, NYC, LV, SF, all over Canada, cruises, etc, etc. We have been very fortunate.

We got married at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville NC so we spent one night at the Grove Park Inn, then we went to Paris for a few days and then travelled more around France--Normandy, Mont Saint-Michel, etc. We intended to go back for our 20th anniversary but the pandemic messed that up.
