Hi everyone, me and my fiance are getting married October 2, 2004 and I would like to start thinking about our honeymoon now.. :) (the best part!) My question is, Where should we stay? I'm thinking Wilderness Lodge, i've always wanted to stay there. I usually book through AAA, but i would love to get good rates and are wondering the best way to go about that? Also, I have heard some people say they got upgraded at check in because it's their honeymoon?

Any help u can give would be wonderful!

First of all.... CONGRATS on your pending wedding and honeymoon. I have not stayed at WL but I have heard great things about it. The best place to get familiar with any discounts is mousesavers.com. As for the upgrade.... I definitely would not count on it. If you want something special, book it. There have been numerous discussions here lately and it seems like a lot of people are disappointed when they don't receive a complimentary upgrade or special attention. It's great if it happens... but don't bet on it!!! It seems like for every 1 person who is upgraded, there are a hundred who are not. I just don't want to see you set yourself up for disappointment. Good luck planning!!!

Research Research Research

We are getting married here in Ohio on Sat.
And then off to the World Sun.
We got our best deal by looking on the internet, calling agents and really shopping around.
Found it was less expensive to book airfare seperate from Hotel and park tickets.

Whatever you do just make it a special time for her.

Congrats Wolff!

My fiance and I are also honeymooning in WDW this september - can't wait!

We are splitting our stay between then AKL and WL. Both concierge level. (we got a good deal with the FT package.) The WL has 4 honeymoon rooms...king sized bed, whirlpool tub for two, and is on the concierge level.) 2 of them face the MK...great for viewing fireworks.

We noted on our reservations that it will be our honeymoon, but we are already paying for concierge...we're splurging...so I'm not sure about upgrades.

Make sure you get your wedding ears in the park though!

Congrats on the upcoming nuptials. DW and I spent our Honeymoon at WL and haven't stayed anywhere else since. It is a fabulous place, close to MK but you still feel miles away from anything.

We're staying at WL for our "2nd" next week. I'd endorse the idea for your "1st". Book with AAA as soon as you can and then watch for any future codes or deals that may come out and adjust the reservation as needed.

Thanks for all the tips! I am not counting on an upgrade, but it would be nice. :) We are from Rhode Island but are driving to Florida, a nice road trip ( my boyfriend is afraid to fly but u didn't hear that from me) ;) So i guess we'll book the hotel than get a park hopper pass? I think that would be my best bet.

Since you are getting married early in October, have you considered the Fairy Tale Package, 7 nights for the price of 4 with UPH tickets? It really makes things affordable, at least in my case.

I thought about that but I thought it's only for this year? we are getting married in 2004.. that would be great though!

I'd also like to offer my congratulations!

We had our honeymoon at WDW last August. We stayed at the Poly and loved it. We had so much fun that we decided to go back this year (but not until Sept.) and we are staying at the WL.

I say that if WL is where you've always wanted to stay, then go for it! I have heard great things about their honeymoon rooms.

We asked for an upgrade at check-in and were told that they didn't have any upgraded rooms to give us....so I would ask about an upgrade but don't count on it :)

Congrats to you! My fiance and I stayed at WL two years ago and had a great time--it's a wonderful resort. The location is great, the atmosphere and themeing is wonderful and romantic, and there are so many amenities and recreation options. We were upgraded from standard to courtyard view, and it wasn't even a special occasion trip--so anything is possible with upgrades (including the possibility of not getting one), so as the others have said, go without expecting one. You will love WL no matter what type of view though. We are having our honeymoon this August, but we are staying at AKL this time. We would have gone back to WL, but want to try a new resort.

WL will be great for your honeymoon. As for upgrades, let me tell you some advice that I've said before on these boards, and may get me in trouble with the ladies:

We spent many thousands of dollars on our wedding reception. And I will say we enjoyed it, as did our guests. However, we spent so much on our reception, there wasn't much left for the honeymoon. We ended up on a cheap 5 night cruise. We still had fun, but it wasn't what it should have been. If I had it to do all over again, I'd spend thousands on my honeymoon, and less on my reception. The party lasts a day, and it is great. The honeymoon should last at least one week, if not two, and you really should spoil yourselves. If you want a nice room, go ahead and pay for it. If you want concierge, book it. And IMHO, don't look back.

Demosthenes - heck no! This lady agrees 110% with you! I don't see the need to go totally overboard on a party that last 6 hours! I could NOT see spending in excess of a thousand dollars on a dress I would wear for 8 hours! (mine cost under $300 thank you very much and I LOVE it!)

but spoiling yourselves on your honeymoon is a must...enjoy this time together...stress free and in love! :)
