Honeymoon???

We got married the end of October and my dh planned the honeymoon. I had wanted to go to a resort some place warm. Instead we went to a cabin in the woods where I cooked and cleaned for the week. He didn't even want to go out to eat because he said it was more romantic to have me make it. I just keep saying that the 25th was mine to plan. Now this was in the middle of Ontario Canada so it was getting cold. For our 25th I planned it and didn't give him any options except some input as to the area he would like to cruise. Of the options that he was interested in (one was Alaska???) I chose to cruise from Vancouver Canada to Hawaii. We stayed for 3 days before in Vancouver and then for 3 extra days in Hawaii. It was wonderful and my dh who really didn't want to cruise (I told him that he could come with me or I would take someone else his choice LOL) found that he really liked to cruise and seeing other places in the world besides the woods of Ontario was worth doing.

We were looking at a WDW/Disney Cruise but we have our eye on the new Disney resort in Hawaii when it arrives. The best thing to do is keep your options open.

We went to Cancun and stayed at the Fiesta American Grand Coral Beach, and it was fantastic! We got a free upgrade to a fantastic suite, and the pool and beach were beautiful. We did a day trip to Chichen Itza which was wonderful (except for the fact that after we got to the top of the pyramid I freaked out and started crying because it was so high and steep that I didn't think I would be able to get down). That was 15 years ago, and I would love to go back again.

If I could take a second honeymoon, I would go to Europe and travel around. I would love to go now, but I don't think the kids would enjoy it that much, and I couldn't travel that far away from them.

Spent a week in Disney at GF then 17 days in Belize. Amazing. Belize was perfect for us. We are very adventurous and outdoorsy (rock climbing, scuba, kayaking, surfing, hiking, etc) but we like to come back to a luxury resort and amazing food. Belize is how Costa Rica was 10 years ago before becoming overdeveloped. And we were able to stay in the top hotels in Belize for 17 days for about the price of a week in a mid priced room at a typical Sandals type resort. Money goes very far.

Hawaii but we've done a lot of travel since that time and we both think Paris has been the most romantic.

St John is still my favorite of all the places I've visited but I love Belize too, definitely a very close second, such a diverse country...DD16 and I spent a week there last year and we ran into several honeymooners at the resort we were staying at and there was also a couple who got married at the resort our last night there. We spent most of our time on Ambergris Caye but we spent one night on Caye Caulker where we had the best fresh orange juice and watermelon juice ever....I bought some off one of the street vendors before going to Ambergris Caye so we would have fresh juice for the week...so delicious!! We did an all day tour to Lamanai which was a highlight of our trip, we saw so many different types of birds and other wildlife on the way there including a toucan at Lamanai and standing high on top of one of the mayan ruins overlooking the treeline and listening to the howler monkeys off in the distance was just amazing...and free rum punches on the way back!!! :teeth:

Thank you all for all the different suggestions...

We are in our 30's and we are getting married in February, I would like to go to a tropical island with our own private room/cabana with our own private pool...or maybe Paris

Sounds wonderful. Just remember: Paris in February will be FREEZING (even by Icelandic standards, lol).

we went to disney world...1997, boardwalk inn, WONDERFUL. I wouldn't change a thing. however, if I could do a 2nd honeymoon today I think I'd head to costa rica

have fun planning. :)

Las Brisas, Acapulco almost 28 years ago. We absolutely loved our private casita and pool. We enjoyed the beautiful view from our casita up on the mountain and driving our jeep around Acapulco.

Not a place I would pick today though :sad2:

Help me try to figure out where to go on our honeymoon....

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Where would you go?

My sister and brother-in-law went to Disney World!

My parents went to Disney World for their honeymoon, as well! :)

When we went to St. Lucia last year , our room had its own private pool up on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Plus we had 2 butlers that catered to our every whim.

No cabana, but the butlers would reserve your lounge chair of choice at the pool or on the beach, plus bring you drinks, food or whatever you wanted. It was wonderful! :cloud9:
