Day 2 sunday 31st October
Woke up at 7am very refreshed and feeling in tune with the time zone already.
After a quick shower we headed out to perkins for brekfast. Ok food. but the worst service ever. the staff were SO miserable. we had to ask 4 times for a glass of water. needless to say the waitress got less than a good tip.
We then caught a taxi up to universal and decided to spend the day there ready for halloween horror nights.
it was busy but no lines were longer than 20-30 minutes.
first though we had to wait 20 mins at the will call window to get our HHN express passes. well worth the wait IMO.
First off we ditched the chocolate/other items we were carrying for a friend we were meeting that evening in the lockers then hit the mummy with a vengance.
WOWOWOW what a ride. sure it has no loops etc but it blew me away. we ended up riding it a few times throughout the day.
We then walked along to do jaws which jessica thought was a little cheesy but i loved as always. followed by a quick ride on MIB which we both liked then Back to the future. Jessica loved this ride so we did it a few times
by this time it was getting close to 4pm so we wandered to ricthers and had 2 great burgers.
we then filtered down to the stay and scream area for HHN and met up with meryn and her BF chris. I met this lady online via a HHN board i post on. She was kind enough to offer me beads/collectors coins from the parade floats in exchange for some english chocolate etc. she used to live here and was happy to do an exchange.
Once the stay and scream area was released we wandered over to the hellgate house which was modeled on a maximum security prison riot. it was scary and a ton of fun. huge 6'6 guys coming at you and saying things like dont drop the soap little boy. at one point there was a guy at floor level with a compressed air hose who was blowing it at people to scare them. he proceeded to inflate my shirt and then announce loudly to everyone "the men always like the blow jobs more" lol.
we then went and signed up for the parade. in otherwords we got to ride ON the parade floats
however at this point we decided to go trade items to find the lockers by the mummy had been emptied and everything taken to lost and found.
Very upset jessica ran down to lost and found to be told its closed you can get your stuff tomorrow. decided we'll still ride the parade we stand there waiting to be taken to it looking very dejected. the parade lead comes over to get us to sign the waiver form and asks why we look so sad. i explain it all and he cant believe they did that. He radios to the guest services in islands of adventure explaining the situation. they reply saying that its crazy stuff and once we finish the parade to go there and they will be happy to retrieve our items for us and compensate us appropriatly.
so we get up on the grim reaper float. get into the saftey harness. and put on our shifts so we look death like. we then get to take 10 coins and 20 beads each to keep. and then we pile them on our arms ready to throw out.
then the parade starts. we're the first float out and people are going CRAZY for the beads. at some points the crowds are 20 to 30 people deep. to begin with we were supposed to toss 1 strand at a time but as soon as she saw the crowds our float supervisor said to toss fistfuls. we had a 4 foot tall 2 foot wide barrel(between the 2 of us, 8 people ride on a float. 4 on each side with 1 barrel between 2 people) of beads plus more on racks behind us and we only half emptied the barrel! it was insane. people screaming jumping and going nuts for beads. so many people taking pictures. it was like being a movie star.
after that we went to guest services. and gave descriptions of all items. we were then told we could collect them in 30 mins time and were given fast passes for the night(worth their weight in gold as there was 30k+ of people in the park and lines were long)
we went and did the disorentarium house which was cool though a lil crowded. the bit with the strobe lighted mirror maze with clowns in was freaky as hell. then we got our bags from guest services, exchanged items with meryn(can we say TONS of beads?) and went to do the rest of the houses. All the houses we did were absolutly amazing. the one that got the most scares outta me was ghost town. the one that messed with my mind the most was house of wax(can we say melted bubbling flesh faced people? /shudder). the end of the vampyre house was cool. huge open courtyard filled with fog and slow strobes, i got seperated from jessica and got lost lol. vamps were coming at me from all angles. plus the bungee vamps inside the house were amazing. we didnt do deadtropolis as we'd been advised the house sucked. and we didnt get to do the nightmares house as as we arrived it shut due to technical problems. must have been serious as the cast actually had to leave the house.
they spilled out onto the street and began attacking the crowds lol. we then saw the bill and ted show which was a RIOT. so funny and SO politically incorrect.
by this point it was midnight and everything was now shut. we were absolutly shattered and our feet ached like hell. so we caught a taxi back to the room and collapsed.
sorry i dont go into more detail on the houses as theres so much i could write, but it'd take forever. if you have any questions on HHN just post and i'll be happy to answer. one thing for sure it was an AMAZING event, the highly of the holiday for me and i want to go back again.
day 3 tonight when i have more time and my notes
