Second day (1/7/2003) of honeymoon trip “home” to VWL

Who:
Myself and my DW

The plan:
Character breakfast at Cape May Café
Meet with new DVC sales guide
Browse boardwalk
World Showcase
Boatwright’s for dinner

Actual:
Woke up around 7am without an alarm; got up and got ready. Woke up DW by 7:30am as we had to make it over to BC for our 8:30 PS at Cape May Café. Following some advice from WDWBill, we drove over to BC and valet parked using our free valet parking DVC perk. We checked in and sat down in the waiting area, but ended up waiting only around a minute or two before being seated. We got pictures with some of the characters as they came around through the restaurant. At a table near us Chip and Dale were playing peek-a-boo with the kids at the table. We finished up our breakfast and walked over to BCV and walked through the model room there. As we were walking to it, I noticed the hidden Mickey in the carpet of the hallway. We both really liked the colors and décor of the BCV model room. We both think we would really enjoy a stay here whenever we do, as next year is at OKW because we need the room size and low points as we are taking DW’s sisters and their significant other/hubby and child. We walked around through BC and YC and around to the boardwalk and DVC sales center for our meeting. We met with our new sales guide--our old sales guide left DVC--just for an informal meeting and to put a face with the name. I found out we had a new sales guide when I called to purchase an add-on, yes even before our first trip home, and the old guide’s number went directly to main sales. After this short meeting we continued around the Boardwalk and entered EPCOT, and as it was just before 11am, WS was not open yet. We walked over to guest services under SE to get a handheld captioning device. We decided to try it out on SE, so we went over and walked right on. The device never lit up, it got the captions, but in the dark it was impossible to read it. We went right from the end of the ride back to guest services and they exchanged it for another one which had working backlighting, they asked if there was a wait for SE and if we wanted to do it again. I assume they were going to get us on past the line, but since we walked right on we said so, and thanked them for the quick exchange of devices. We went back to SE and this time the device worked fine and the text was readable very easily. After this we headed for WS, this time we went clockwise starting at Mexico. We walked right onto Maelstrom at the Norway pavilion, where the captioning device worked well on the ride part. We walked over to the China pavilion and we looked at the menu for Nine Dragons, but the lunch buffet after our breakfast buffet would have been TOO MUCH. So we decided to eat elsewhere. We walked into the waiting area and listened to some music played on a Chinese Violin. We then watched the “circlevision” film. It was nice music and film. We walked on to Germany and picked up a pretzel from the cart and sat down and ate it and people watched for a bit. As we got to the Italy pavilion there was a crowd around watching the living statue so we watched a little bit as well before continuing on. We continued on browsing around to the UK where we got some chips from the Fish and Chips stand. I walked over to Canada and got spots for the coon to start “Off-Kilter” show while DW browsed through the UK shops. The show started and was stolen by a little 2-3 yr old dancing around in front of the stage. Even the members of Off-Kilter were enjoying the show on the ground. After the show ended we went back over to FW to return the captioning device to guest services. We strolled over to Mission:Space and took some pictures of the entrance over the short wall. We returned the device, picked up our souvenir picture from the camera center, and exited EPCOT. We walked over to the buses and took a bus over to POR for our dinner. We briefly walked around the POR lobby and marina area, and headed over to the restaurant and were seated right away. I had the chicken and pasta and DW had the Jambalaya with chicken. The portions were very large and we ended up taking some home. After dinner we got one of the last boats from POR to DTD. The area had a cold snap Tuesday and we were very cold on the way there, and that was why there were stopping the boats early that night. We walked from the boat dock to the bus stop at Marketplace and waited a few minutes for the bus to get us back to BC and our car. We got the car from Valet and drove back to VWL. We made it back to the room and both were asleep by 9pm.

Your trip sounds wonderful. I have a question for you. What is the captioning device and can anyone use it?
