I am thinking of convincing my DF that this we should stay at the honeymoon suite at GF. I was wondering if anyone has stayed there. Is it worth it? I am also considering the Poly and Contemporary (I like the MK...can you tell?). All opinions and experience are greatly appreciated.

PS Is anyone planning on staying there in May/June of 2008. I am trying to get an idea of availability.

we are staying at the GF for our honeymoon in a honeymoon room. there is more than one suite, and there are two types of suites. BUT you can only "request" the turret suite (which is way worth it IMO) the other room is just a reg. room on a private floor with an MK view. IMO, I think taking teh chance is worth it, especially for your honeymoon! so it depends I guess! ;)

Keep in mind the room is NOT a suite...it is "just" a room that is guaranteed to have a king bed (which are somewhat rare at Disney). It is also in the Maion building of the Grand Floridian so it has Concierge service.

That's all I was really looking for. Give me a MK view and that is all a girl could ask for!

I have posted these many times, but go to THIS thread and you can see my pics of one of the turret suites.

It was heavenly...

Keep in mind that there are two types of "honeymoon rooms" at the Grand Floridian. Both are the same price and in the main building, and both have concierge privileges and king beds. You can request either type, but it's just a request and not guaranteed.

Here are the basic differences and similarities:

--Regular Honeymoon Rooms--these are quite a bit smaller than the other type; they have a king bed and a sitting area; the bathtub is a jacuzzi tub, but it's only big enough for 1 person at a time; these rooms are all located in a secluded section of the second floor of the main building and they all have Magic Kingdom views; they feel very secluded from the rest of the main building; they also all have balconies (these rooms are located above Gasparilla Grill if you're familiar with the resort layout)

--Honeymoon Turret Rooms--these rooms are larger and have a unique layout; they have large walk-in closets, but the tub is not a jacuzzi type tub; these rooms do not have balconies, but the bedroom and sitting area is located in the big turrets on each corner of the resort and have windows all around the room for a semi-panoramic view; some of these rooms have Magic Kingdom views and some do not (this can be requested but not guaranteed); these rooms are located on the third, fourth and fifth floors of the main building in the turrets, so they are not as secluded as the other room types

We actually stayed in both rooms types on our honeymoon. We only had the regular honeymoon room for the first night of our honeymoon (our comp night), and we didn't remember to take pictures of it. We then were moved to a turret honeymoon room when our cash reservation took over the next day. It's just a matter of personal opinion, but we preferred the turret honeymoon room because of it's unique shape and "personality," and we didn't even get a MK view turret room. Of course, others prefer the regular honeymoon rooms, so it's just a matter of opinion. Do keep in mind though that Disney tries to grant reservation requests, but there are lots of honeymooners and Disney brides staying at the GF at any given time, so they can't guarantee you'll get what you want.
