We are getting married in October and can't really afford to stay at the Disney Hotels but would like to stay close by, does anyone have any ideas?? experiences??? something that will still make for some nice memories???

TIA

There are tons of great places to stay on 192 outside the Maingate West. It's a bit quieter there... I know there's also a Radisson Parkway on 192. There's a Best WEstern, Holiday Inn, Westgate (they may only be timeshares). Just Google hotels in Kissimmee and narrow it down to the Disney area.

what's your budget and preference for the hotel?? there might be some specials in Oct for Disney value resorts. are you honeymooning in the parks? then i don't think you'll save much by staying off site with additional transportation and parking fees.

You could also try the downtown disney hotels, they are within walking distance to downtown disney and have free transport to the parks!

Right near Downtown Disney is a complex with houses you can rent out, and these are nice houses! A lot have a private pool and everything. A friend of ours stayed there (can't remember the name of it, I'll try to find out) and I don't think they paid anymore than $200 a night, that is a little more expensive, but I think there are some newer ones that start at $80 a night.

Have you looked into the value resorts? my fiance and I are paying $80 a night at ASmo in a few weeks. plus we are getting all the perks which is great like free transport, early magic hour and free Magical Express from the airport so we save 200 bucks for a rental. Just a thought!

Hi! My last trip to WDW we stayed at the Boardwalk for $325 for 4 days...I rented points from a DVC member. That board is on this site - go there and check it out. It is the cheapest way to do Disney posh - and it is usually cheaper than paying for an All-Star - NOT ROMANTIC - That was one of our ooops. Anyway, check out the board and get you a villa!

The houses are a great idea...I also suggest renting DVC points from a timeshare member. They usually rent for an average of $10 per point and to stay at Old Key West (the cheapest points) from a Sunday night to a Friday would probably be about $500...I can look more closely...but it's usually about 9 points a night in the off-time (which you are) for sun-thursday nights...

For an example DVC rental...

Boardwalk in October for 1 week

Studio = 106-87 Points ~ $1060-$870 Dollars
1BDR = 214-174 Points ~ $2140-$1740 Dollars
(Preferred View - Standard View)

This would be for any 7 conseq. days in October. If you think about it $1000 for a week in a deluxe room right next to Epcot and MGM is a great deal if it's within your means.

I would do a seach on priceline or expedia You can get hotels as cheap as 35 dollars per night in Kissimmee. Granted, they won't be five star quality, but if you're just sleeping there it might be worth it. You might also want to try looking into a hotel condo type thing. I saw a place called the Palms Hotel & Villas when I was looking for a hotel for our honeymoon. It has a kitchenette so you could save on some meals by going to a grocery store.
