My fiancee and I will be spending the first four nights of our honeymoon in Disney at the grand californian. We're wondering what the nicest most romantic meals are in the land. Ones I've been looking at are the Blue Bayou (reminds me of the San Angel a little!), Napa Rose and the vineyard room. We also LOVE character meals so we're looking at Goofys Kitchen, Minnie's Breakfast at the Plaza, the Lilo and Stitch breakfast and Storyteller's Cafe.

Any reviews or suggestions would be greately appreciated! :goodvibes

I definitely agree with Napa Rose and Blue Bayou. I haven't been to the others, so I can't comment.

Both are romantic and perfect for your honeymoon.

You might also want to check out the Jazz Kitchen in DTD.

Have a wonderful time!

I was going to suggest Ralph Brennan's also. BB and NR are excellent choices also, although I haven't been to NR I have seen it on the Travel Channel. I would love to do the chefs table dinner, it's expensive and a once in a life time thing for me, but would be great for a honeymoon! :goodvibes

Congratulations!

I'd say the Blue Bayou for the atmosphere (went there for my honeymoon for my, um, first marriage-it was very romantic) but I don't think the food is fantastic-the food at the Vineyard was spectacular and it was very leisurely...that's where I'd splurge.

Blue Bayou is very similar to San Angel. The food at BB (just like at SAn Angel) gets mixed reviews so you have to look at it an experience not just a meal. My husband and I had a nice dinner at Naples in DTD one night. On most weekends there is a violinst who plays lovely music right near their outdoor seating area and you can enjoy that while you dine. I might also suggest Hook's Pointe in the DLH, it has a very nice atmosphere. Have a wonderful honeymoon!

Oh, and I really enjoy all those character meals, they are each one a lot of fun with good food.

The Blue Bayou is amazing, so wonderful in there, and Napa is good but its a bit pricey. I've been to Goofy's Kitchen too and that is an AMAZING place to eat if you want to break away from being an adult and you wanna become a kid and interact with charcters while having a really nice buffet meal.

Blue Bayou is fantastic if you get a waterside table. We have eaten there before and after the menu change. We have always had good food and good service, but food was especially good after the menu change. Of course, you are totally paying for the atmosphere, and that is fantastic. It is much, much better than San Angel.

I second what someone said about Hook's Pointe. If you get a late PS, when not a lot of kids are there, it is very romantic, and the food is fantastic. Napa is also wonderful, just more expensive.

As far as character meals go, I think Storyteller's has the best food. It also hasn't seemed overrun with kids when we have gone. Goofy's seems to always get reviews about rude, crazy kids.

Blue Bayou is definitely romantic. However, the food is really mixed. I know because the food that I had (avoid the mahi mahi) was below mediocre. My kids dishes were mediocre. But, my husband's dish (the prime rib) was quite good. Order safe there (prime rib, pork loin or monte cristo).

The upstairs dining room at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen is awesome. Napa Rose is also awesome. We really enjoyed the food at the Storyteller breakfast buffet.

I can't speak to the Vineyard Room or Catal - haven't been to either. I will say for Catal that it is owned by Joachim Spichal. We have eaten at another of his restaurants and it was incredible.

OH, btw, we love the SAI and find the food there much better than Blue Bayou. I think we must order the right dishes as we have yet to have a disappointing meal, even though the reviews are so mixed. I think that a lot of Disney restaurants are uneven that way.

Chef's table at Napa Rose is superb, BB, Catal, and then Brennan's would be my choices. If you like MEAT than I would go to Steakhouse 55, spendy but a real great meal and service.

I agree with all three, Jazz Kitchen is really nice, good food. Congratulations, you'll have a FUNtastic time no matter what you do

I think the Vineyard Room works well, especially as the sun goes down, as you are pretty much on a patio.

We stuck to meat (my husband had one beef dish, I another) at the upstairs dining room of Ralph Brennans. It was beyond good. It was the best meal of our trip (even better than our meals at Napa Rose and Blue Bayou).
