Honeymoon Lovers and Seafood Lovers take on Disney Dining! - dining plan analysis

1900 Park Fare

Wednesday we didn't have a park day scheduled, so we decided to enjoy a leisurely brunch at 1900 Park Fare. Our ressie was for 10:45 but I knew I needed plenty of time to make it to the GF. We left around 9:20 and again only just made it in time. We got a bus to the MK quick enough, and then we had to decide between monorail, bus, or boat. I didn't know anything about the boats or how fast they might be. We are about to head up to the monorail when we hear it's down, so we decide to go on the bus.

First of all, didn't realize this bus was a Contemporary/Poly/GF bus (in that order), so we were the last stop. We had a wheelchair loading and unloading at both the contemporary and the Poly, and each time it took about 10 mins so that added some time on. A massive amount of people got on at the contemporary so we were pretty squished. And then they also stopped at the transportation and ticket center. Everyone got off here. Now help me out, because I'm confused as to why all these people were going here. I'd imagine most of them already have tickets if they're staying with Disney, right? Even if you wanted to buy a ticket you could do it at the gate... so why did so many people travel here? We were boggled! :confused3 I'm sure there's so explanation we just don't know about.

We finally made it though! I was worried there wouldn't be much food since we were at the end of the buffet time but it was really nice, as well as really empty. Here's my plate:

I had scrambled eggs, a biscuit, fresh fruit, a pastry (I think with chocolate chips in it), smoked salmon, bacon, and a sausage. The bacon and sausage were just all right. Scrambled eggs were decent. The pastry was delicious and the fruit was really fresh and tasty!

Also got the strawberry soup, this was quite tasty:

P1000363.jpg

And we both tried to special juice (I forget what it is):

P1000364.jpg

Delicious! I think a lot of people don't like it because she came over to make sure we were okay with it after we tried it, but we loved it. I also got a cup of tea toward the end of the meal.

Jason's plate:

P1000365.jpg

He loved everything he tried with the exception of that yellow and white thing in the corner. I think it was a lobster eggs benedict and I was surprised he didn't like it as he loves both lobster and eggs. Took one bite and didn't eat any more. I was also shocked that he didn't get an omlette since he loves them!

And of course we met the characters. We got to see Mary Poppins, Alice, the Mad Hatter, Pooh, and Tigger. Alice and Pooh were the best. Alice introduced us to another couple sitting nearby that was also on their honeymoon. Pooh was very excited about our marriage and wanted to take some fun photos:

P1000369.jpg

Overall I gave the buffet an 8.5 out of 10 and Jason gave it a 9.5 out of 10, giving it an average of 9 out of 10. I'm not so much a breakfast person, but Jason is and he also loves buffets because he can eat as much as he wants! Everything was good except that one lobster benedict.

We paid for this one OOP because we wouldn't have enough TS credits otherwise!

Adult 1: $20.99
Adult 2: $20.99

Total with tax: $44.71

This was a great place to use our OOP meal - compare this with some of the 1 TS credit dinners and those were almost twice as much!

Total with Tip: $52.27

We ate a 1900 PF and have to agree in that it was a great breakfast buffet :thumbsup2

Love the pic of you guys with Pooh. I can't think of why loads of people would want to get off at TTC - like you said tickets can be bought at the parks.

Oooh, we're trying 1900 Park Fare for the first time in December. This made me a little excited.

Perhaps all the people got off at the TTC in order to hop on a monorail to Epcot?

The characters were a lot of fun here! I think they spent a lot of time with us as well because it was toward the end of breakfast and the place was pretty empty.

I hope you like it! Fingers crossed it will be as good for you as it was for us!

I guess that could be it. I'd think it would be easier for them to just take a bus directly to Epcot though... I may have to post this on the resorts board or something to satisfy my curiosity!

Boardwalk Bakery

We had dinner reservations at Kouzzina, so we headed over to the boardwalk in the afternoon. We ended up getting there pretty early, so we decided to walk around. In the bakery I grabbed one of these fruit tarts as a snack:

This was so good! The fruit was super fresh and it was the perfect little afternoon snack. I give at a 9.5 out of 10.

Later, after dinner, I had to go back to get one of the S'mores cupcakes!

This is the best cupcake I've ever had! Since I got it after dinner I couldn't eat much, but put it in the fridge back at the room and it was my breakfast for the next two days! It's a chocolate cupcake with marshmallow frosting and graham cracker crumbs. Yum! Easily a 10 out of 10!

Subscribing. I'm really enjoying your reviews! Congratulations on your marriage! :goodvibes

Mmm the S'mores cupcake looks soo good! :thumbsup2 We never made it to Boardwalk Bakery this time but will definitely be paying this place a visit on a future trip.

Thank you! :goodvibes

The boardwalk was actually a pretty quick walk from HS... I think it might be an even quicker walk from Epcot? I had never been to the boardwalk before but it was fun, definitely worth checking out!

Gosh that cupcake looks good. I think I could just eat desserts. Thanks for your reviews.

I know - why don't they have just a dessert dining plan, where you just get desserts for every meal? :rotfl:

congratulations on your marriage! Some great photos - really like the look of your sandwiches at EOS.

Kouzzina!

For dinner that night we went to Kouzzina. DH really likes trying different cultures' foods, so since we had never really tried any Greek food he was eager to go here. I was a little hesitant based on the menu (wasn't sure I would like anything), but I went along with it because there were so few aspects of the honeymoon that he had any opinion on!

Here's the inside:

P1000390.jpg

To begin, we ordered drinks. I had the red sangria:

P1000392.jpg

This was a very good sangria, it had lots of flavor and far surpassed the one I had at Narcoossee's.

Jason ordered the "Red Grape Fizz" (at least that is how it is listed on the receipt, for some reason I am thinking it had a different name):

P1000391.jpg

This was off of the generic drinks menu, and he enjoyed it. It was refreshing and definitely had the grape flavor to it, which I'm not crazy about but was good for him.

To begin, we had bread brought out to us:

P1000393.jpg

With the bread they brought two different types of olive oil as well as olives. We both love olive oil but don't like olives (go figure!). Both of the oils were really excellent - I think we emptied the whole basket of bread because we just could not stop eating this!

For my entree I got the Fisherman's Stew ( Scallops, seasonal Fish, Shellfish, Fennel, Grilled Bread, and Ouzo Butter ):

P1000394.jpg

This was really excellent. I gave it a 9 out of 10. There was great flavor in the broth, and it had a little spice to it. When I ordered it the server warned me that it was spicy. So I was expecting more spiciness than what I got since he mentioned it, even though it wasn't described that way on the menu. There was just barely a hint of spiciness, you could barely taste it. I think if the spiciness was cranked up just a little bit I would have given this dish a 10 out of 10.

DH, eager to try as much "new" food as possible, went with the Kouzzina trio (tasting size portions of Greek-style Lasagna, Char-grilled Lamb Burger, and Cinnamon-stewed Chicken with Orzo):

P1000396.jpg

He gave it a 9 out of 10 and declared the chicken the best. I got a bite of each and I think I liked the lamb burger best - it had a good kick to it. I also liked the lasagna much more than I thought I would.

For dessert I had the Loukoumades (Freshly Made Greek Doughnuts drizzled with warm Honey and Cinnamon):

P1000399.jpg

This was just amazing, I gave it a 9.5 out of 10. The doughnuts themselves, covered in honey and cinnamon, were just lovely, but they also came with raspberry and vanilla dipping sauces. So many great flavors, but the raspberry was definitely my favorite! The doughnuts are very sweet, so if you love sweet desserts this one's for you, but if honey and cinnamon and raspberry and vanilla sounds like too much sweet, you might find it overbearing.

DH went with the Baklava (Pistachio-Cinnamon Almond Pastry with Vanilla Praline Gelato):

P1000398.jpg

He very much enjoyed this, also giving his dessert a 9.5 out of 10. He said that it was filling but so good that he still wanted to eat it.

This is also the only restaurant that brought us a honeymoon cupcake!

P1000400-1.jpg

The thought was really nice but we were so stuffed that we asked for a box for the cupcake. Unfortunately, they put it in a rather big box and it got tossed around a lot on the trip back. When we opened it again most of the icing had fallen off and it just did not look appealing anymore, so sadly we threw it away :sad2:

I also had a hot tea with dessert.

Overall Kouzzina was fantastic for us, and we give it a 9.5 out of 10. It is the only restaurant we are considering going back to on our next trip (we usually like to try as many new places as possible). While it was probably our second favorite meal after Narcoossee's, this one is only 1 TS credit, which is why we are considering returning here rather than Narcoossee's.

We used 1 TS credit each for this meal.

Red Sangria: $7.50
Red Grape Fizz: $7.25
Fisherman's Stew: $25.99
Kouzzina Trio: $21.99
Doughnuts: $6.99
Baklava: $7.49
Hot tea: $2.39

Total including tax: $84.78
Total including tip: $99.11

Congrats on your wedding! You both make a lovely couple. :)

Loving your review so far! Kouzzina looks delish, and I'm definitely looking forward to going here! The s'mores cupcake looks incredible too. Can't wait for my next trip to Disney! :goodvibes

Thanks for the updates.

1900 PF and Kouzzina are both places we haven't tried. I've been reading positive reviews of Kouzzina lately on the board so it's on my list to try. I also want to go to 1900 PF to meet Mad Hatter and Alice and try their famous strawberry soup.

So excited for your Kouzzina review! We are eating there for breakfast and dinner (never been before) and I think I might order the threesome sampler, looks excellent!

So glad you loved Kouzzina as much as we do! Aren't those little donuts amazing?????:thumbsup2

Excellent review of Kouzzina. I considered making a ressie here on our honeymoon trip but neither of us are fans of greek food. I only wanted to go because I watch Iron Chef a lot and adore Cat Cora! ;) But having said that the trio that your hubby got looks great! I've never had lamb before and I would consider eating that burger, it looked so good.

Your meal sounds fantastic! On our trip in 2009, I let DBF pick Nine Dragons to eat at. Augh-- his choice was not as successful as your DH's!

Love the review of Kouzzina! I'm like you and a bit hesitant to try this place because of the menu. However, after your review I may have to give it a try.
