Tuesday, September 17th

We were up and out of the hotel room (ASMu) by 8:30. For breakfast we stopped and ate at the McDonald's by the AS resorts. I had a coupon so it was a cheap breakfast especially since we were carrying our refillable mugs with coffee from the ASMu food court!
We decided to attempt Islands of Adventure again and this time we made it past the front gate. It was about twenty after nine when we arrived. Love those moving sidewalks!! Of course after we arrived into the park Glen noticed that he had not packed a spare roll of film and only had a few photos left. (He had to take a bunch of photos of Rocky and Bullwinkle who were at the entrance to the park)! So after taking out a second mortgage for a roll of film (never trust the husband to pack!!) we headed to Spiderman.
Now I had heard such great things about the Spiderman attraction and guess what.. they were all true!! This was one of the best rides in Florida! And no lineup! From here we did Dr. Doom's FearFall. I was thinking that it was a fast decline not a fast upwards motion so when it took off I was totaling unaware. We both loved this ride - thank goodness it was over so quick we didn't have to think about why we were doing this! WOW! I think it's more dramatic that Tower of Terror because it was outside and you could see exactly what was happening to you.
Well after this we heading to do the Hulk Rollercoaster. Big mistake. As soon as we were strapped in I knew this was a HUGE HUGE mistake. Even with my double dose of motion sickness pills I was praying for the ride to end. Don't get me wrong - I am not the least bit afraid of coasters I just can't take it when it goes upside down. I get very very nausea. Glen LOVED it. When we got off I had to sit down in the shade for about 30 minutes (with a few trips to the washroom) and some cool water before I could go on. Storm Force Accelator was closed.
Off to Toon Lagoon. Dudley Do-Right's and Popeye Rat Barge were both fantastic. We got so WET compared to Splash Mountain and Kaili River Rapids. I guess since we had not got that wet on either of those we were not prepared for the soaking we got on these rides. We had ponchos with us we just didn't bother wearing them. We highly recommend both these rides.
From here it was off to the Jurassic Park Island. The Jurassic Park River Ride was also awesome. We didn't get quite as wet on this one. We had about a 10-15 minute wait here - the longest wait of the day.
We went and looked thru the Discovery Centre for a bit. THe DNA video thing was kinda hokey! There was suppose to be some sort of trail thing in this area but what we saw was pretty disappointing. Maybe someone can tell me if we had missed something. What we saw was one very short little path with a employee holing an animated baby dinosaur thing.
Next we arrived in the Lost Continent. I was not about to take any chances on the Dueling Roller Coaster. My stomach had settled by now and I wanted to leave it that way. I told Glen he could go ahead and do the coasters without me. As there was not much of a line up he could do it while I waited but he said he wouldn't do it without me so we passed. We also skipped the Flying Unicorns as it looked more for kiddies (same with Dumbo and Aladdin's Magic Carpets at MK). We went into see Poseidon's Fury. Maybe I was kind of feeling out of sorts after the Hulk incident but I found this attraction kind of boring. We had trouble hearing the guide at the beginning. There was some good effects but not as exciting as I thought it would be.
Sindbad did not have any shows playing in the next little while so we headed on over to Seuss Landing. We were hungry and wanted to try the Green Eggs and Ham for lunch. Since Glen had spent all our money on a roll of film we needed to hit a cash machine. Of course there isn't one when you need it is there! The week before when we were at Universal there were several inside the park. Here at Islands there were none. We actually had to go outside the front gates to get to a cash machine! Green Eggs were nothing spectacular but it was a nice change from our bagels we usually brought into the parks for lunch!
I had also wanted to try Dagwood's but it was closed.
After lunch we headed back to do Cat in the Hat ride which I liked as I loved Dr. Seuss as a kid. We had missed the Sinbad show and debated about going back and doing Spiderman again and hanging around for the next Sinbad show but decided we were ready to head out even through it was only 2:30. After looking around the stores we left. Personally I would rather spend our souvenir $ at Disney. Most of the IoA characters were not ones I particularly like.
Our impression of IoA - the huge coasters are great for those who can handle them. I like them but my stomach does not. I can take coasters that do not turn upside down but ones that do - watch out! I wish I didn't get motion sickness on these but I do - even with motion sickness pills. The raft rides and Spiderman were great but there was little else. Lots more stuff for kids than adults. Honestly without the coasters there are only 7 attractions that are not for kids plus 1 show. I was a little disappointed.
On the way thru Citywalk we stopped to pick up some Margarita mix from Jimmy Buffett's. We had ate here the week before but had not picked up the mix. My BIL is a parrothead and so we thought that would be a good souvenir for them.
On the way back to the ASMu we stopped at the Walmart on Irlo Bronson. We actually bought some Disney stuff here along with some snacks.
The plan tonight was to head over to Disney Quest. To be honest we had our only real fight once we arrived back at the hotel so we had a late start out for the night. I guess even honeymooners fight!!
Supper was a BBQ chicken pizza and caesar salad to share at Wolfgang Puck's Express. We used the DIsney Card and got 20% off. It was okay - nothing to write home about. Perhaps the Cafe or the actual restaurant would have been a little bit more exciting.
I was hesitant about Disney QUest. Neither of us are big video game players but we had nothing else planned for this evening and decided to give it a go. We used a coupon from Birmbaum's as more of a discount than the Disney Club. Since we had 7 day PHP we did not have admission to DQ. We stayed for about 2 hours. I had trouble with Aladdin as I could not seem to get the helmet to stay on and it was giving me a headache. The raft game was pointless. Buzz Lightyear's game was fun and so were the 80's games (Donkey Kong, etc). We did have dessert at the Cheesecake Factory which was undescribable. I forget which two we choose (we should have shared) but it was WOW! Of course it cost us a day's pay for coffee and cake! THe last thing we did was Pirates of the Caribbean. That was the best thing of all! It was EXCELLENT! If you go do not miss out on that!
Our opinion of Disney QUest: since we had to pay additional for this as not included in our park hopper tickets, it was not worth it. WIth our coupon we ended up paying $52 (about $10 off). In Canadian dollars this amount to about $70 for 2 hours. Since we are not big video game junkies it was not worth it for us. If you had kids or were really into video games it would have been worth it. Hey I din't play Frogger when I 14 in 1984 why would I want to pay $70 to play it when I'm 33???!!! We wished we had just done Pleasure Island or Citywalk instead. Oh well....
We drove back to the AMSMu when Disney Quest closed at 11. We skipped the swim tonight as it was raining out. So we refilled our mugs and settled in to our room for the night.
