Day 4 – MGM and Parasailing

We were supposed to go to WCC again for breakfast but we were sleepy and skipped it. We’d make up the meal later in the week.

Somehow we still managed to get to MGM shortly after opening and headed right for ToT/RnR area. We grabbed a FP for ToT and then got in the regular line since the wait said 13min. It was more like 5 min. I really love this ride – I kinda wish it had broken down at the end like last trip and we got a free ride out of it. I could ride it all day long but I really hate having to see the Twilight one preshow every time. We then hit RnR with only a 5 min wait and we asked to wait for the front car. There were only 2 groups in front of us so we got on quickly. We got some nasty looks/comments about us in the recording studio room. Everyone just lined up single file even after the CM said not to do that, fill in all the space by standing at least 2 people deep in each row. Of course we filled in all available space and I guess got ahead of some of the people that refused to do so and we got talked about for it. I’m sure they are the same people who would complain if they had to wait for the next recording studio if there wasn’t room b/c people didn’t fill in all the space. We then got back in line for ToT, saving our FP for later since we learned that you can use it any time after the time printed on it, not just inside that window. However, the posted 10min was not accurate and on a hot muggy day the mist in the gardens was too much for us so we got out of line and went on to other things.

Off to the Great Movie Ride which also had no line except for the 2 elderly couples in front of us who thought that the preshow room with the movies showing was the actual attraction and didn’t want to move through the queue at all. It took 2 CMs to convince them that the ride was through the doors, all that was in this room was movie clips. I do have to admit that I like watching the movie clips and don ‘t mind having to wait for a few minutes in that room. DH was kinda hungry at this point and wanted to get something before lunch which was still over an hour away. We stopped at ABC Commissary? and he got the kids chicken nugget meal. Not too bad except they gave us OJ instead of orange soda so we had to wait for them to fix it.

We were luck that Mike and Sully were out just across from where we were eating so I went and got in line while DH finished up lunch. We had no problem with him joining me right before we got our pictures taken. The CM actually was wondering where my new husband was since we were still wearing our bride and groom ears (and did so all week). I was now on a mission to find Buzz. For some reason I can never read that darn MGM map – give me any other map, park or otherwise and I’m fine. Seriously though, whose brilliant idea was it to put Al’s Toy Barn smack in the middle of some concrete without any shade in sight. The lines were ridiculous and I was almost up to Jessie when she went in and the Green Army Men came out. We ditched the lines b/c we were so hot and cranky in the sun.

DH wanted to do the backlot tour before lunch so we got in line and only waited 5-10 min. He really love the Catastrophe Canyon part while I enjoy riding through the tunnel where the costuming and set departments are. We did get to see some of the Stunt show cars practicing in one of the lots which was pretty cool.

Lunch was at Prime Time and boy was it busy. People were not happy to be turned away. I forgot that you couldn’t get a milkshake as your drink since it’s listed under the dessert section of the menu but oh well. Service was fine and DH didn’t realize how big Dad’s Sundae was but he put a pretty good dent into it considering he ate all his meal too. Diane our waitress wasn’t as over the top as some of the servers but she played her role pretty well.

We had just enough time to go ride ToT before we had to get back to CR for parasailing. We used our FP but the line was basically non existent anyway. It was a short wait for a bus and off we went.

We shared the parasailing boat with another family and we chose to go last. I love parasailing!! The day was a bit windy so it was even better than the last time we went when the day was calm. It’s amazing how far you can see when you are up there. We also tried to take out jet skis but no sooner had we gotten out on the water but there was some lightning and we had to come back. I accidentally splashed DH when I slowed down to turn around and come back in and he got soaked. A few minutes later it started pouring and we went inside CR to get a drink and then wait for a boat to take us back to WL. This is when I realized CR had coke slushies and we could refill a mug with it – good thing we’re going there next time.

After resting and getting dressed for dinner we headed to MK to get bus to YC for dinner at the Yachtsman. We were a bit cranky again that we were dropped off over at the All Star bus stop and missed a YC bus b/c of it. If we had stopped at WL stop it just a few stops down from YC, not on a totally different section. Luckily another bus came in no time and we were off to dinner. We were seated for dinner a few minutes after checking in and had Mana for our server. He was good but his accent was strong and we had a hard time understanding him at times. He let DH get the kids chicken noodle soup with mickey head noodles since he didn’t like any of the regular appetizers. I was sad that they got rid of the White Choc Macadamia Nut Pie and settled for crème brule instead. DH also got us a bottle of wine to have with dinner. The steaks were good but not as wonderful as we had hoped but we still had a good time. They even brought us a plate of cookies with Congratulations painted on it in chocolate.

We decided we’d head over to Epcot for Illuminations. We were going to take the boat but I couldn’t figure out where the boat dock was so DH reminded me that it was a short walk away – a really short walk. It did start to pour when we were about halfway there and since I didn’t have my backpack, it meant we didn’t have ponchos. Once in Epcot we had well over an hour to kill so we rode Maelstrom twice – once in a boat all by ourselves :) DH also got some pierogi and kielbasa from the Poland food stand and he was quite a happy camper. We found a bench to sit on and wait for Illuminations but it was so drizzly that we thought it would be cancelled and my feet hurt so bad and I needed to get my shoes off, they were so swollen. I had really wanted to see Illuminations but I was in so much pain that I wanted to go right then. Fortunately a bus came pretty quickly and I told DH he had to check on a room with a tub again and no matter what it was we would have to take it.

After waiting a rather long time in line and dealing with a CM who seemed to have limited knowledge of the English language, DH did get us a new room, non smoking queen with a tub. It was on the 5th floor and looked out over the play area of the kids club. We had stayed in the same location on a lower floor in May 04. At this point I didn’t care where we were as long as we had a tub. So a quick pack up of all our stuff and bell services helped us move. It wasn’t too bad since I don’t really unpack the suitcases – we just take our clothes out of them each day and I bring a big duffel bag for all the dirty stuff. The only “hard” part was taking the bottle of champagne we had chilling in the ice bucket. The bellman said just take the bucket, it wouldn’t be a big deal. After the move, we just collapsed into bed, knowing we had a long day ahead of us with MNSSHP.

Next up Day 5 MNSSHP
