Honeymoon at WDW!

thanks everyone for all the great ideas! and congrats to all those marrying in summer 2012 as well! what resort will you be staying at? we are choosing a value resort to try and save some money and were thinking about pop century. has anyone ever stayed there? what is it like? also, will anyone else be using the honeymoon registry?

We are getting married at the Swan and Dolphin and staying at Coronado Springs for our 10 day "weddingmoon" (wedding is 12/3/11) I've stayed at Pop Century twice and we actually originally booked Pop Century for this trip but my Fiance surprised me with Coronado. Of all the values...pop is my favorite. Took my Fiance for his first trip in years last year for our planning trip and he absolutely loved Pop. It's just a fun hotel....we loved just walking around and looking at all the huge pop icons. We have a honeymooning couple coming to our wedding and they're staying at port orleans riverside. Both of us are using the honeymoon registry. Have you started your registry yet? It's super easy and the most fun registry ever. Congrats and good luck!

:lovestruc Can I also say that my fiance and I are honeymooning in Disney in July 2012?! Congrats to us all! We are going to have a fantastic time! Looking forward to stealing any tips for honeymooners. I have been to Disney more times than I can count, but my FI has only been twice (both with me and friends). So, while I know my way around Disney and what to do, I have never been there for a romantic occasion before! I am so excited!!! :lovestruc

WOO HOO!! i love that there are so many people who are doing disney honeymoons. lets the rest of us get lots and lots of advice :thumbsup2

We are going to be staying 6 nights and 7 days at Coronado Springs. I absolutely cannot wait! We are going to be doing the registry. Actually already set up most of it. WE registered, got our gift card for it in the mail. and have started adding a few things. Still have to finalize what we want to be on it, but it has been super easy and fun to do :)

I'm excited! Just called and booked my wedding hair/nails/makeup at the salon at Coronado. I've never been to CSR but I've wanted to stay there for years....My Fiance wanted to surprise me with the upgrade from Pop to Coronado....he lasted a month. Have you stayed there before? Only other moderate I've stayed at is French Quarter and loved it! My favorite though is Wilderness but Saratoga is a close 2nd.

We are honeymooning at the Wilderness Lodge (the Honeymoon Suite!) this December & we will be there through Christmas!!! I am beyond excited!!! :cool1:

No i have never stayed there before. I have only been to Disney World once, and my family and I stayed outside of Disney. This is only my fiance's FIRST time going. So everything will kind of be new and amazing for us. We both cannot wait. Hope you have an amazing wedding and an amazing honeymoon!!!

no i have not started the registry yet, but i am glad to hear it is easy to use! we are holding off on making reservations because we are not sure when our vacation times for work will be yet. i am very excited about the registry, though! who wants to register for toasters and blenders when your guests can buy your buffet at Chef Mickey's?! :thumbsup2

This is my first post as well, and I have a lot in common with you two. My fiance and I will arrive at Disney for our honeymoon on Aug 14 of this year (one day after 30% off Deluxe Resorts...grrrrrr) and will be staying a full week. My almost-hubby has never been to WDW; quite frankly, he's never been on a real vacation. I've been over a dozen times and was shocked to find out that he really wanted to honeymoon there. I want so badly to make this trip special for him.

As far as romantic recommendations go, I suggest dining at the California Grill at the top of the Contemporary while the Wishes! fireworks are going off at MK. That's what I have reserved for our very first night, and I couldn't be more excited. I'll let you know if it's as special and romantic as I think it is going to be.

Will loves animals, and we'll probably spend a whole lot of our time at the AK, and I am desperate to find a way to afford staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. He and his family are absolutely broke, so I'm paying for the honeymoon all on my own. Right now we are booked at a moderate resort, but I have been searching the internet for hours a day trying to find a way to get a break on Animal Kingdom Lodge. I just want to give Will everything he deserves with this honeymoon. I'm sorry if I sound gushy or tacky... Anyone got the scoop?
I have no idea how I got to this board but I want to tell ChinaBound that there is currently a discount on rooms for August-September. You should call and ask if they will apply this to your reservation. If you check the Disney site and select Walt Disney World you can look under the "tickets and packages" tab and select "special offers"...this discount is listed there.

To everyone else...you should always go back and repeatedly look for discounts after you make a Disney reservation. This is the 2nd year in a row that I saved $500 by looking for the discount. While this is unheard of in the summer months there is ALWAYS a discount that pops up for Aug/Sept that is posted at the end of July.

We will be celebrating out 3rd wedding anniversary in September at Disney. We honeymooned there and had a FANTASTIC time. We brought our son for the first time last year for his 1st visit and our anniversary and are doing the same this year! Another tip for making your honeymoon extra special is booking a Club Level room...it is well worth the money and you will be treated like royalty!

I hope you all enjoy your honeymoons! Buy and wear the wedding themed ears...trust me...you will thank me later!!

Congrats everyone!! :thumbsup2

We are also planning a Disneymoon for Oct-Nov 2012.

Technically, I don't have the ring yet, but it is in this house somewhere...:magnify:

We went to WDW in May of 2009. It was our first big trip together, DF's first visit, and my first visit since I was 14. It was an amazing trip since DF and I paid for and planned the entire thing. When we started talking about getting married, it just didn't seem right not to go to Disney for our honeymoon. :lovestruc

I am a planning machine, and for the budget of a typical week in Europe, I have a plan outlined for a 4 night cruise from Port Canaveral and then two weeks at AKL. We stayed in AKL for our first trip, and DF put his foot down that we would stay there and nowhere else. I am hoping to rent DVC points, like we did last time, and save enough money on accommodations to afford the cruise.

Hoping to gather some romantic honeymoon tips and trip reports :dance3:

We are also getting married at the Swan in December!! Which ceremony site are you using? Are you having a morning or evening wedding? Do you have a PJ? I'd love to see your planning!:goodvibes
