Is anyone else planning a Disney honeymoon waaaaaaay after their wedding? We got married last December and never got around to going on a honeymoon. Now we're going to WDW in September (everything's booked - YAY!!) and want to somehow make it special.

I don't know what makes a honeymoon different from a regular vacation, but I want this trip to be extra-magical. Do you have any suggestions?

Book reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table and let them know it is your honeymoon. Besides it being a special place for dinner, honeymooners on here all seem to get a free set of toasting glasses while dining there.

You could also book a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride to bring a little extra romance into the trip.

We didn't have a honeymoon until our first anniversary. We were married less than 4 months after Katrina. DH's family lost everything and lived with him for a while after the storm. We didn't feel it was the right time then for a honeymoon. We were married on Dec. 22, 2005 and celebrated our honeymoon Dec. 23-30, 2006 in Walt Disney World. I too wanted everything to be extra special because of waiting so long. To be honest, I'm glad we waited. We were able to save up and really splurge. I was married once before when I was 18 (I'm now 37). We had a very short honeymoon after we were married that lasted only three days. This was so much better! I can tell you I planned for 10 months and I think I over planned. There was so much I wanted to do to make things "magical" when looking back now I can say the little un-planned things that happened are the memories I'll keep in my heart. Here's a list of the things we planned and feel free pm me if you have any questions.

As you can see, we had alot of down time. It was Christmas week and super crowded! Although we didn't stick completely to the itinerary, we did have a wonderful trip! A few things we didn't do but would be really nice:
Carriage Ride at Ft. Wilderness or Port Orleans
Couples Massage
Victoria and Alberts

Have fun planning and you'll be amazed at how fast the time flies by!

lillielil, I got married at the end of 1984. I didn't have a honeymoon. I renewed my wedding vows with a custom FTW vow renewal at the end of 2004. I didn't have a honeymoon. Heck, at this rate, I don't think I ever will have one. But maybe, just maybe, for our 25th anniversary, we will finally have a honeymoon. Well, at least hope springs eternal. ;)

Now we're going to WDW in September (everything's booked - YAY!!) and want to somehow make it special. I don't know what makes a honeymoon different from a regular vacation, but I want this trip to be extra-magical. Do you have any suggestions?

Consider a nice sit-down dinner -- CA Grill, Narcoossee's, Citricos, Jiko's, Artist Point, Flying Fish, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Victoria & Albert's, etc.

Consider a fireworks cruise: Epcot or Magic Kingdom -- pontoon boat or Grand 1 yacht.

Consider private tennis or golf lessons, followed by a game of tennis or a round of golf.

Consider a parasailing ride -- either single or tandem.

Consider the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

Consider Cirque du Soleil.

Consider a carriage ride or a horseback ride.

Consider a VIP Tour of any of the theme parks: MK, Epcot, Disney-MGM, AK.

Those are just a few of the things that immediately come to mind.

What I would do is pick out at least one restaurant that is my favorite (or my SO's favorite) and book a dinner reservation there.

I would also look into booking either a VIP Tour or a Backstage Tour. I would set it up for my favorite theme park -- or the theme park that least appeals to me (that way I'd find out a few interesting things that would help me grow to love that theme park).

I would also consider booking the Grand 1 yacht for a fireworks cruise. I would then ask the GF's Private Dining folks to serve dinner (or dessert) aboard the boat during the cruise. The cruise really is very fun.

I would also book a private lesson for either golf or tennis (I'd pick the one that most appeals to me). The lessons are a hoot and not something that most folks do frequently (we've done them a few times but it's been years and I'm feeling guilty over that fact because they were so much fun).

No matter what you choose to do, I hope you have a fun honeymoon!
