We stayed at the HGI last Dec over NYE....and stayed at RPR 2 weeks after it opened. The most delicate way I can put this is, PLEASE take the 2 nights and stay at RPR!!!!! The Royal Pacific is truly a 'RESORT"...the HGI is a basic hotel pool in the parking lot type building. Since you state this will be your honeymoon, I will address the bed situations between the 2. RPR...awesome...granted the place was only 2 weeks old, but beautiful wood carves headboards/accents, lush grounds, awesome pool area, luau dancers and nightly show...a very upscale "treat you right" resort, and FOTL axcess...the BEST! Not to mention riding the boat or walking to Citywalk to Magaritaville! Nice nightlife at Citywalk.
The HGI was one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. The bed was mushy and dirty, THANKFULLY I had slippers w/me as the carpet grossed me out. walls were paper thin, back door was always open to the main lobby and elevator axcess...made me VERY nervous as I have 2 kids..we chose it to be able to walk to Sea World adn avoid all the holiday traffic...never again. I asked to have our room switched to something less offensive, but I was told they were completely booked up...and that was that. Security was very lax...I could not believe this was a HILTON chain hotel. I would cut my honeymoon short 2 days and do Cancun/RPR....at the very least if you do stay at HGI, please make that the first stop on your trip...I cannot imagine going from the RPR to HGI. It would be so disappointing. Did you try RPR rate susing the Ent. Card? Remember, this is your honeymoon...it would be a shame to have anything ruin it that could be avoided.
