Hi all! I wanted to start a thread where we could all post reviews of the treats for sale at Honeydukes. I'll be visiting WWoHP in two weeks and I want to make sure to try some of the best items on sale. I'm a big fan of the books, and am looking forward to trying some of the candies mentioned in the books that haven't been previously on sale at toy stores (like chocolate frogs and Bertie Botts, though I know these items are different at IOA than the ones sold in outside stores).

I've heard a lot about the choc frogs, pumpkin juice and peppermint toads that are available. Anyone have any reviews to add of the other items? I'm really interested to know what the cauldron cakes are like, I always pictured them as cupcake-like items.

DH bought some canister of fruit treats that are about the size and shape of a gumball. They are really good and we have a Honeydukes canister to keep. I couldn't bring myself to spend $10 on frog-shaped chocolate (I know....fuddy-duddy that I am).

We bought those as well as the Horehound Candy in the same glass jar. For $12, I am still munching. I'm going to pick up a few more next trip down.

The cauldron cakes are yummy. They are like a mousse filled cupcake with a chocolate handle.

if anyone has pics please post them as well--to me it's all about the packaging:cutie:

I'm so excited to hear about the cauldron cakes. I'll be getting one for sure! I'm really just excited to see how many candies they have that are mentioned in the books: ice mice, acid pops, chocolate wands, flying whizbees, cockroach clusters, droobles best blowing gum, exploding bon bons, jelly slugs, licorice wands, sugar quills, pepper imps, I could go on and on. Clearly I have a HP problem! :rotfl:

The cauldron cakes are amazing and a must have. I would love to go back for just that and a frozen butterbeer. Too bad the crowds will keep me aways for a couple months!

Eat your cauldron cake while you're there! I took mine to go and forgot about it until I got back to the hotel, and by then it wasn't as pretty as it was on display. I honestly don't remember ice mice, flying whizbees, cockroach clusters, gum, exploding bon bons, jelly slugs, licorice wands, or sugar quills being there. Maybe I was too amazed by the store itself, but I really don't remember all of those items. I should've looked harder for gum though, big fan of it.

What is in a cauldron cake? I would love to see pictures! Thanks!

Sorry mysteriouspnai, didn't mean to imply I had seen all of those items! I haven't been to WWoHP, I was just sharing my wishful thinking of some of the candies from the book that I would love to see in the store. Chocolate wands are in the books as are peppermint toads, and I know they're selling those. I also saw in a photo someone took, a display of round green lollipops, and was wondering if those might be acid pops. Like the butterbeer, I'm excited to see what candies they have that are actually from the books. Thanks for all the tips so far!

Scanne- in the Harry Potter world, cauldron cakes are small chocolate cakes with a creamy filling, and they're sold on the sweet cart on the train to Hogwarts and at Honeydukes. I saw a pic someone posted, not sure where I saw it though. It may have been on the 'What did you buy at WWoHP' thread. They looked yummy!

We saw acid pops, chocolate wands, fudge flies, licorice clippings, sugar quills, pepper imps, chocolate skulls, bertie bott's, chocolate frogs, pink coconut ice, tooth splintering mints, ton tongue toffee, cauldron cakes, rock cakes, pumpkin tarts. They also have treacle fudge (instead of treacle tarts). Strawberry and peanut butter ice cream is sold at three broomsticks and is really good.

Oh my, this just made my day! There are so many obscure things here from the books that I didn't think they would have. I cannot wait to try them all, especially sugar quills, which Hermione was particularly fond of. Thanks!

thanks for the pics La2kw---they look great but definitely something that won't make it too long in the heat

Here's a picture of the little jars of candy that are $12.98
