Honey, I Shrunk the Checkbook, Really final, some Feb shots, 7-27, pg82.

Nebo I'm new to the DIS Boards but not new to Disney. I absolutley have roared at your posts. Keep them coming. I just hate it when groups go places and don't control the kids. No one wants to tell kids no anymore. My husband and I are always good for telling kids to behave. Can you tell we are teachers?

Can't wait to read more. :cheer2:

So since we all know now why the rooms were so cheap, i wonder if they'll go down lower after all that?? Nebo would you go for $28 a night????

It's DISNEY. Just buy some earplugs and learn sign language. I'll bring Braeton to meet you and he can give you a crash course. What he doesn't know , he makes his own signs which can be PRETTY interesting!!!
Now I know why a 5 year old did not create sign language!!!!!!:rotfl:

Cool, K, whatcha call your reile is going to sub for me this chapter. So, any complaints or accolades should be now addressed to her. Or him.

Her....I'm afraid my writing would not do you justice. :worship: But since I am a nice person, I'll sub for you when there is a Disney vacation that you cannot go on (of course you would have already paid for:rotfl: )

oh i understand...i stayed one night at ASMu several years ago, and that was enough for me. it was just too much concrete everywhere for my taste. and noiiiiisy.
that drawbridge! I hate that thing. I have gotten stuck behind it so many times! It takes forever to open & close.

I heard those stores about All Star and Pop Warner. So sorry you had to deal with that. I went to Disney for Grad Night when I was in high school and we were so well behaved. Those chaperones were not doing their job. oh boy!

I never saw that bridge open up, but I did see some people fishing once over by france. thought that was different.

Keep up the great reporting... :thumbsup2

Nebo, very funny post yet again, but sorry about the ASMu troubles.

I have to pipe into the controversy though. Last I knew, Pop Warner was at POR and CBR too! Just a fair warning..........

/
it's such a shame, because usually the Values are great! last time we were at AsMu I loved it. sure, we prefer the moderates, but if you need a disney fix and it's the only affordable option......

2 times I called front desk in the middle of the night(different nights) to ask somone to make the kids go to their rooms and stop running up and down the resort yelling and swearing (the chaperones obviously weren't going to:confused3 ) there should be a curfew, just like anywhere else. like nebo said, finally 3 big groups were kicked out.

but don't be afraid of the values. be very afraid of pop warner week, though!:rotfl:

ACK - this is what has always kept me away from the first week in December...I'm sure it will be in an upcoming Nebo segment, but how were the parks...were they overwhelmed at all?

Thanks for the Update, Nebo!

All-Stars at Pop Warner is my biggest fear!

Groups like that are why My DH is afraid to even try a value. He's a very light sleeper, and that would just drive him absolurely crazy!

ACK - this is what has always kept me away from the first week in December...I'm sure it will be in an upcoming Nebo segment, but how were the parks...were they overwhelmed at all?

That's what I'm waiting to find out too, as i'm planning to go to WDW for a week on my 50th BD. Dec 10 2012 !!!:rotfl:
Yeah I'm already planning, I WILL NOT be staying in a value though, done lot's of that, I'm campaigning for the GF for this one.
Of course I'll be down there several times between now and then.
I just booked POFQ for this year's F&W, next stop Publix for some Sunny D bottles:hippie: Gotta figure out what mix best matches the color.
Lynn

So, I bit the bullet and booked WL room only for Dec. 14-18. Please tell me Pop Warner is over by then; I know they won't be at WL, but I don't even want to run into those groups in the parks! Nebo, I can't imagine how miserable that was! DH used to work with juvenile delinquents (in a couple of jobs), so I'm sure he would have been thrilled to be in the middle of the mayhem, madness and foolishness.

Ok, now do tell about the Candlelight Processional...eagerly awaiting those details...

There is magic in Diane, I'm still discovering it to this day.

Good for you Diane!:thumbsup2

I have been a complete saint this far.

This I am having trouble believing
"Big Blowout Sale" "All Disney merchandise half off!" "Last Week!"

Are you kidding me:lmao:

You wouldn't believe how long this took.
Actually I can believe that, Disney needs to invest in a training program!

I took a picture!
music044.jpg

That's a heck of a shot, very postcard looking!:thumbsup2

But our resort was just mobbed, it seemed to me. And mobbed with youngsters and a google amount of teenagers.
And all running and yelling every which way.

OH no, I know what's coming:scared1:

There is this little thing going on there called Pop Warner, and football teams of all ages converge on Disney World.

Yep, I will never go during Pop Warner:eek:

Once we settled in, I ran over to the pool area for a shot.
No, not that kind of shot, this kind of shot:

But I am sure you would have loved that kind of shot;)

And got waved right through.
:thumbsup2

I'm sure you get my drift.
Didn't we go through this on your last update. Don't need no stinkin' drift

Yep, it's how they get the globe into the lagoon.

Oh well, Disney is just full of surprises!
And this is why we are all here:)

Another great update Nebo!

Nebo: once again, you nailed another. Bravo to both of you for trying to calm the teenagers, too bad the "chaperones" needed some of their own.

I do have to add, though, that I can't quote, I can't post pictures, I can't even figure out a ticker, (but I can dance), and I, too, have run out of ,,,

Keep the updates coming!! Thanks for bringing us along:goodvibes

There's one good reason I shouldn't complain about having to go home at night and not staying at a hotel. But I'm sure you didn't let it ruin the rest of your trip. pixiedust: Waiting to hear the rest of the story.

Hi, I'm going to try to hit some call outs now, but I'm going to have to leave some out, very sorry but I'm hoping to get another chapter up and running either later tonight or tomorrow. Everyone, thanks for posting and reading, like I said, this trip report is full steam ahead!

Janet and Emily, I like how you break it down and add your comments in it. I know that takes a lot of time. okay,,,,,

We had no problems with kids or noise when we stayed there over Spring Break.

SB, we never did before either, this was a first for us, and hopefully a last.

Arrgghh - wasn't it terrible? We stayed at All-Star Sports for one night, 12/8, and I have never wanted to get out of a place so badly. I'm quoting from my trip report so I don't have to type it all over again:

"The boys swam for about an hour. Then we headed back to the room to get ready for our dinner at Chef Mickey’s. This was the end of Pop Warner week – and note to self here – we will never stay at an All-Star Resort during Pop Warner week again! Even for one night! The kids were all over the resort unsupervised. The language was pretty bad. Luckily my kids didn't pick up on it. The resort was a mess – with trash and food all over the pool area. Disgusting."

AND

"We got back to the All-Star Sports about 8:30. Yahoo – our luggage arrived! We also found empty beer cans and pizza crusts on the railings. The police were there dealing with some drunk adult cheerleader coaches. Repeat – never stay at All Stars again during any part of Pop Warner week! "

Now, I have stayed at All-Star Movies and All-Star Music before, and some cheerleading groups were at the ASMo when we were there - but it was absolutely nothing like what we experienced during Pop Warner. Luckily my kids don't know the words they were hearing were bad, or they would have acquired a whole new vocabulary from that one night. And the trash and food and empty beer cans were still sitting all over the place the next morning when we left! Never, never again - did I say that already? :scared:

Rant off - Nebo, you may proceed! :)

Thanks CJ's mom, did you switch resorts to get away from them, or did you just have one night planned anyway, I know, I need to get over to your thread. We did cut through sports a couple times at night, and while it didn't seem as bad as music, I noticed the same thing going on over there.

Lurker coming out of hiding to let you know that the bridge is opened every night that Illuminations is done. It lets through boats with Illuminations "stuff". I only know this because I got stuck waiting for it once and asked the CM who was guarding the gate. Overall it is a relatively quick process though.

Welcome Quacktatty! I cannot believe we've never seen this before with the bridge, it must be because our usual schedule has us back at the room during this time, and we don't get back to WS until night.

Yep, we think it is really cool to watch the barge of explosives go past. We spend a prodigious amount of time in the World Showcase and have caught the barge going out a few times.

So now I am dying to know if they let you use the fastpasses on another day. We have known about the return window being a 'suggestion' for many moons. I'd of told ya, if I knew you didn't know. We thought about trying to use our M::S fastpasses a few days late, but we have such bad luck with that ride we decided not to try it.

Sorry about the winter blah's. I'll refrain from giving the Austin weather report just now.

Thank you HaleyB, and keep refraining, although my eyes still have to check out the weather in Orlando everyday in the paper. By the way, I have two fastpasses in my nightstand, does that answer your question?:rolleyes1

I love the check in CM. Now that is what I call experienced professional service!!!:rotfl:
Yah for getting the meds refilled!!!!!!! DH had 2 surgeries a couple of weeks ago and when released there was no pain meds prescribed. The orders said to use the Vikes at home. Now these were NOT prescribed by the surgeon these were for something else. Now he's several days away from being able to refill and only has a few left!!! He's trying to set up an appointment with his GP to throw hisself on their mercy!!

Leah, I wish him luck, all doctors are different. And by the way, I would be thrilled to get to spend a day at the park with Braeton!

Disney should have to warn you about pop warner when you book! The cm's would have gotten sick of hearing from me if I had to deal with it!:) We stayed at asmu in may and loved it. It's too bad you had to deal with all of that.

Diane must be wonderwoman on the side!

I got the joke about the sign at the pharmacy! What's my prize???

Yes Cheri, you get to try and explain the joke to Diane, I still don't think she gets it!

Uh oh, another CJ, I'm easily confused. Nice to meetcha and don't be a stranger.

Wait, lemme catch my breath.......... (did I use 'em all? here's a couple..- since Nebo used all the commas)
I'm a bit upset Haven't been getting any messages when this gets updated so I'll try posting and see if that helps The last time we went we stayed at Pop and caught the last of the "Pop Warner" week I don't remember the parks being busy but downtown Disney seemed to be busier

that drawbridge! I hate that thing. I have gotten stuck behind it so many times! It takes forever to open & close.

Kelly, I look at your siggy and see a Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club tip coming up, no wonder you don't like the values. You're not a cheap date, are you?:lmao: Don't forget to watch the MK fireworks from the WL beach. :rolleyes1

I heard those stores about All Star and Pop Warner. So sorry you had to deal with that. I went to Disney for Grad Night when I was in high school and we were so well behaved. Those chaperones were not doing their job. oh boy!

I can't believe we never ever knew about the pop warner thing. I thought I knew it all, and yet we walked right into this.

Nebo, great update! All I can say is :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: and :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Kevin, 4 months ago you were just a toddler on the disboards, I think your post count was 5 when you first posted on my thread. And now you have over 2000? Holy Smokes! Is your computer set on a timer?:rotfl: And I only just recently passed 500.

ACK - this is what has always kept me away from the first week in December...I'm sure it will be in an upcoming Nebo segment, but how were the parks...were they overwhelmed at all?

Again, everbody knew about PW but me! As for the parks? Not really, more coming up.

Thanks for the Update, Nebo!

All-Stars at Pop Warner is my biggest fear!

Groups like that are why My DH is afraid to even try a value. He's a very light sleeper, and that would just drive him absolurely crazy!

That's how it is with Diane, too. It's the first time she ever called to complain that I know of.

That's what I'm waiting to find out too, as i'm planning to go to WDW for a week on my 50th BD. Dec 10 2012 !!!:rotfl:

Ahem, regular Sunny D is orange, so vodka or a light rum both work well. (And a combination thereof). There now is a fruit punch type, but we found those were the ones that were left over at the end of the trip. Just make sure you the 11.3 oz bottles with the pop up top. I also buy these disposable large cups at the grocery store, that are a kind of styrofoam/paper patterned materiial with lids that work even better. The outside of the cup is actually kind of fuzzy, but you won't feel it through the packaging. But these cups have retained ice for almost 2 hours, and we'll make drinks in the room and bring them with to the parks. You just can't go on any rides with them till they are done.

So, I bit the bullet and booked WL room only for Dec. 14-18. Please tell me Pop Warner is over by then; I know they won't be at WL, but I don't even want to run into those groups in the parks!

I'm pretty sure pop will be over by then, and the Candle light is coming up.

PK, whenever I am confronted by someone with a special skill I lack, I always say "But can he do this?" And I either pat my head and rub my belly, or I press my hands against my face and make a lout Popping noise.

There's one good reason I shouldn't complain about having to go home at night and not staying at a hotel. But I'm sure you didn't let it ruin the rest of your trip. pixiedust: Waiting to hear the rest of the story.

No, this didn't ruiin our stay at all, it just took a way a bit of the magic. We still met some great friends that will be coming up, and it didn't carry over to the parks.

You know, you're very strange, Shawn.

But I seldom get the email notices anymore either, you're not alone.
