I'm having Christmas dinner and received a coupon in the Sunday paper for $5.00 off. Has anyone every purchased a ham from them? I know they are expensive - are they worth it?
My BIL used to work for Honey Baked Ham. He was in charge of the blow torch that seared the brown sugar coating. One year, he gave us HBH gift certificates for Christmas.
Yes, they are expensive, but they're one of the best hams you'll ever taste.
Don't be fooled though if they ask you to "reserve" one. It doesn't mean squat other then they're wanting an estimate on how many to have on hand. You'll still have to wait in line.
Trying one for the first time this Christmas! I can't wait to see if it's as good as everyone says, plus I'm really digging not having to slave away in the kitchen on Christmas Day!

I don't understand your anger here? Of course you have to wait in line - everyone in the line reserved their ham - I don't think that someone is just going to walk on in there on Christmas day and ask for a ham? What would be your solution on how to reserve and NOT wait in line?
Wow - great recommendations! We'll try it. They also have a special if you order the ham you can get a turkey or chicken breast for $19.99 so I might try that also. Has anyone tried their buns or side dishes?

Yes expensive, but worth it. They're huge, you'll have plenty leftover. The turkey is good too. The sides, eh, not so much. They're ok considering all you have to do it pop them in the oven, but I wouldn't use them for a holiday dinner.
I just reserved a 6 lb. half ham from Honeybaked for Christmas...we're doing an oven-ready turkey (from Whole Foods Market) as well, raw, but completely seasoned and tied...should be enough for 12 people, I should hope!!
I'll be the voice of dissent. I don't get the appeal. I don't think they are any better than your basic supermarket ham if you glaze it yourself. And baking a ham has to be one of the simplest meals one can make. And the Honey Baked Hams are much, much more expensive.

I have to agree with you. Each year I buy a store bought ham that has a brown sugar coating and is spiral sliced. Last year, my mom decided to buy a Honey Baked Ham and the only difference we noticed was that it had more fat on it. My two teens said they much prefered the store bought one. That is a first for them....wanting a cheaper item over an expensive one!
