We had our first taste of "hot" for the summer today... went to the county fair and it was in the upper 80s. It was a good day to build up the endurance.

OMG, even the mere mention of zucchini bread makes me salivate!

I made a couple of loaves and they turned out super yummy... the recipe has crushed pineapple and raisins in it. I think I may have to go get me a piece now that I wrote about it...

I know it's kind of late in the game now, but if you guys need replacements, ebags is running some GREAT sales lately!

Thanks for the heads up! We'll be moochers for this trip and then we'll have to invest in some better stuff. Guess the Target clearance rack didn't hold up it's end of the bargain!

The realization that summer is quickly coming to an end hit today.

It's hard to believe that in April when we booked this trip, August seemed like it was Forrrrrrrrrrrrrever away. Having this trip to look forward to has been amazing, but at the same time, I've wished my summer away for it to get here!

We've had a fun and busy summer and as I was uploading some pictures today, I thought I'd share with you what we've up to:

Junior's first professional baseball game... GO TWINS!

One night at camp will do this to you...

He ran in his first quarter mile race... and I only had to run 1/2 of the race with him... Which reminded me I need to get my butt back to the YMCA pronto.

DH came down with strep the day before we were going to go on a road trip to visit friends who had just moved to their new place, so I did a 4+ hour road trip with Junior. Alone. The thought of beingtrapped in the car by myself with him for that long, well, it made me a tad nervous because he sometimes isn't the best traveler. He was a saint and he proved he's growing up... there is hope! We had fun taking pictures in a town with all these crazy sculptures:

This was in a different town, but we were on a roll so we had to stop...

Our prize at the end of the trip was seeing some dear friends- We all used to live in Duluth, but the other 2 families have moved some distance away. It was fun to see their kids and have a fun weekend together of swimming and getting caught up.

Then a couple of weeks ago a bunch of families from church went to a family's cabin. The kids wore themselves out swimming, kayaking, and kept their energy up by filling up on s'mores.

And today we went to the fair with some friends. My friend has 3 daughters and her 2 oldest were visiting grandparents and her DH was off golfing. My DH had plans so we took her youngest and mine, hit some rides, ate some good food, checked out the animals and had fun.

And now I know why I'm tired! It has been a good and fun summer! And to think we still have a Disney trip to be the icing on the chocolate cake of a summer!

I know what you mean about wishing the summer away. And how come the last month always seems the longest before you go on vacay? I still have lists to make and things to buy! I know I'll be rushing around the night before as usual.

Ohh Goodness! First of all, I didn't see any lanyards or pins at the MOA Disney store.

When I was at the MOA Disney Store a few months ago I was sorely disappointed. There were no lanyards, no pins, only like 3 adult t-shirts, none of which were on sale. And only a couple baby shirts as well.

I think there is something a little fishy about your whole packing list. Are you planning on having a Coy Pond in our hotel room as decoration?

I didn't even catch the "carp" reference!!!!!!!!!

We thought about going the day before we leave, DH couldn't get off of work until noon so we won't get down there until 3pm and we didn't want to wear ourselves out knowing what we'll be doing the next day. I'll miss going... I was a 4-Her growing up (not a livestock kind of 4-Her, we were city folk!) and spent many days wandering the fair with friends and nights in the dorms up on the top floor of the 4-H building. Good times, good times.

That stinks. I was seeing all these threads talking about super cheap pin/lanyard starter sets at Disney Stores so I was hoping we'd have the same luck.

It's VERY near my house, only about 30 minutes away located in Darwin, Minnesota. It's super neat-o, espeically when you listen to the Weird Al song while traveling to the Twine Ball.

Some friends of ours always find some weird large sculpture type thing each year and have their Christmas card photo taken with it. They're hilarious to get!

We went to that one at the Dells this past April when we went with a group of friends to the Wilderness! We bought Junior a couple of t-shirts and we found a Red Power Ranger action figure for a couple of bucks, something Junior had been longing for. All the friends we were there with were the friends we're thinking about doing a Disney trip with.... we went to the Outlet Mall, split up and did our shopping, but all managed to end up at the Disney Store at the same time! It was calling to us....
