Honest dining reviews

Thanks to all for their help.

I guess I'll keep reading your reviews until I can make up my mind.:thumbsup2

Hi, I'm a first timer at booking restaurants for my trip and would like to know what you think of my choices. I will be going with my wife and three daughters 8,8 and 5. We will be staying seven nights in May.

We are all on the DDP.

I want to thank this board for giving me some great reviews on restaurants.

Feel free to let me know what you think of my choices and any recommendations for the other two nights.

These are all dinner reservations:

1-Cape May
2- Crystal Palace
3- 'Ohana
4- Tony's Town Square
5- 1900 Park Fare

Keep in mind my three daughters:)

Thanks for your help.

1-24-11 update:

1- Cape May
2- Kona Cafe
3- Raglan Road
4- Via Napoli
5- 1900 Park Fare
6- Crystal Palace
7- 'Ohana

I think this will be the seven dinners on DDP that I'm going with. I know that I have three buffet's but two of those are with characters for the kid's.

"If you want bad food and a lot of noise try the character buffets. If you want decent food look somewhere else. "

Not sure I would do Raglan Road..but VERY happy you switched Tony's for Via Napoli...:thumbsup2 Now if I could get you to switch Ohana for something else..;) (just kidding - well sort of)..we had the worst meal at Ohana but obviously tons love it. Have you considered anything at DHS or AK for TS? Tusker House breakfast is our favorite character meal on property and Sci Fi and 50's at DHS have very good food and really fun atmospheres.:goodvibes I think all your other choices look great! Have a wonderful time with your 3 princess:. :goodvibes

1-Cape May Cannot go wrong for either breakfast or dinner...we love this place!
2- Crystal Palace Great for breakfast, terrible for dinner
3- 'Ohana Great for breakfast, just eh for dinner
4- Tony's Town Square We have enjoyed lunch and dinner here
5- 1900 Park Fare No way would we go back for breakfast or dinner...the food is terrible and the noise level is ridiculous

1.Cape May- My DH loves this place. I think it is really good too. In my opinion, it is a little better than your typical seafood buffett. DS was 4 last time we were there. Ate really well too. My parents very much enjoyed it!

2. Crystal Palace- It was ok. Honestly, I didn't like the food. Nor, did I like the way that the characters were looped through the restaurant. DS didn't eat well there. DH has no desire to go back.

3. 'Ohana- I am assuming dinner cause well that is what you said :) Think MEAT, if you like MEAT you will LOVE 'Ohana. Personally, I love the dumplings and dessert! The kiddos love the entertainment. It is a good time!

4. Tony's Town Square- I loved it! DH loved it. To me it is better Italian food than like Olive Garden, ect... It isn't themey (sp??) really at all IMO.

5. 1900 Park Fare. Sorry, can't help you! We are planning breakfast there this coming trip.

As for the other two... you gotta go princesses. Aksuers (sp??) I have boys so, I haven't beet there. But, I wouldn't spend 2 Dining Credits to eat at the Castle. Finally, for CHARACTER INTERACTION Garden Grill at Epcot. I would give up Crystal Palace for this place. Based on character interaction alone. You will find this place gets mix reviews on here, but it is our entire family's favorite. If not that, I would go with Coral Reef. Personally, I am boycotting them because they took Catfish and Cheese Grits off the menu, but the girls would LOVE the aquarium look and the Under the sea feel.

Why aren't you a big fan of Raglan Road? That was one DDR that I wasn't worried about.

The 'Ohana reviews have been mixed but I think I'm going to stay with it.

I might drop one of the character dinners and go with the Maya which is in the resort that we are staying.

Any opinions on the Maya?

I think the moral of this thread is try things for yourself. Opinions are so varied!!!

I do agree though with PP that you should try Akershus. I really enjoyed breakfast and will go back some day (we're doing CRT on our next trip).

I also suggest Coral Reef and Sanaa. Coral Reef gets mixed reviews, but if you like seafood, (a) it's in a park and (b) the tanks are so cool. We actually liked the food. I notice that a lot of the people who don't like it get non-seafood meals. Sanaa is a good choice for dinner after visiting Animal Kingdom. It is in Animal Kingdom Villas but is easy to get to from the park. The food is great and it has big windows and you can see the animals on the savannah. The food is great too.

My main advice is to only do a few buffets and choose TS meals with menus for the rest. Take reviews with a grain of salt.

On your list 'Ohana is the only one that we've tried and my kids (5 & 9) both loved it and when we were leaving the 9 yr. old said that we must eat there again. I think Dh ate his youngest child's weight in sticky wings and potstickers. It is one of those places where I ate until I was ready to puke and then still wanted to eat more because it was just that good. The entertainment is great and there are little activities throughout dinner for the kids.

My family and had an absolute blast at 1900 Park Fare, however, I did not like the food. Probably the worts buffet I have ever ate at.

Thanks for the reviews.

I think I am going to skip either 1900 or Crystal Palace. You guys are scaring me about these buffet reviews.:scared1:

Cape May - one of our favorites, you will all enjoy it, like you said not every meal has to be about characters

Crystal Palace - we have eaten B, L and D here and the food is pretty good a nice variety, however out past 2 trips we have had very little character interaction, we were luck to get 1 or 2 characters because of the people constantly trying to pull them to their table out of order or people walking up to them or when they do their parade they were not coming back out where they had left off. Still enjoy the food but we don't go for the characters any more.

'Ohana - my son loves it here, I could go either way, the food is ok I usually and so full after the sides that I don't care to eat any meat, but love the bread pudding, still debating it for our trip this year, we skipped last year

Tony's Town Square - haven't been in several years but another one thining of giving another shot to this year, enjoyed it years ago

1900 Park Fare - we are going to go for Breakfast this year because my daughter loves Alice in Wonderland, was not impressed by dinner there, that was about 3 years ago.

Some other suggestions for you for your other nights - Biergarten, love love love it here, Chefs de France another of our new found favorites, Wolfgang Puck Cafe, Flying Fish, this is 2TS though but we loved it. The Wave another favorite, starting to get too many of those. There is a few suggestions. Good luck and have a great time!
