We are getting a Honda Odyssey. Will probably lease, and will probably want the model right under touring.
DH was given a price of $3,000 down

Sorry...
$3000 down and $489 a month (not sure how many years, it was more a quick visit to the dealer, we still have a little while before we actually go "looking.")

Anyone with the Odyssey, I was wondering if you can share what you pay for a lease, and what you recommend.

Thank you.

I bought not leased a Honda odyssey last year:). I love it! We bought the LX version and I pay $379 a month but I own it. I think you could find a much better deal than $489 for something you won't even own? Just my opinion though:). Enjoy your new car:)

That sounds like an awful lot for a leased car. I assume they limit your mileage to 15,000 a year?
I would look into purchasing it with $3,000 down. They have some very low interest rates on Hondas right now.

We bought an Odyssey EX for $25,000 10 years ago. We have done routine maintenance, never had a major repair, the body, engine and interior are in excellent cond. We plan to keep a another year or two. That makes for very reasonable transportation cost over those years. We will go for another Honda when we decide to part with the Odyssey.

We got ours in late 2011 before my toddler was born. $27,500 for base model, we put down $5k I think and send in $400/month, but that's putting us on schedule to pay the loan off early. We are eight months early right now, but hopefully will wrap it up a lot sooner. The interest rates offered can be really low, like .9 or 1.9% around holidays. In other words, don't lease. You spend almost the same or more and come away with nothing.

We just bought a fully loaded Honda Crosstour yesterday. No money down at .9% for 60 months. Our payments are roughly $600. The dealer said he made $144 on it. We were able to get it for $1500 under invoice price.

We were planning to trade in our BMW X5 but when we couldn't get the amount we wanted for it, we decided it was best to keep it.

I would try hard to buy vs. lease. We have had leased cars in the past, so I'm not totally opposed to that, but for an Odyssey, buying will work better. They last forever with proper maintenance and you will get many years out of it after it's paid off.

My 2005 Odyssey is still running fantastic, has never needed a major repair (it's not even needed more than a routine anything) and I hope it lasts for years to come! Aside from a dirty interior due to my slob kids, the van still seems like a new car to me, almost 9 years later.

Assuming a 36 month lease, you're going to spend $20,604 for something you won't own in 3 years, and MAY have to pay a mileage penalty to boot. Ouch.

We are on our second Honda Odyssey and highly recommend them. I agree with others about buying vs. leasing, though. I'd rather buy a 5-year old model and own it than lease a new model.

There are Odyssey forums out there. The one we used was a Honda specific one, with a quick Google search, this one, specific to Odyssey's came up (less foot traffic than the one I remember, so you might find others).

I too am in the buy vs. lease. Maybe look for a certified used one to purchase, if the financing/etc. is hard for you. If you are paying more a month to lease vs. purchase, you are not getting a good deal. Ask them to run the numbers both ways.

I never set foot in a showroom, because I have only ever found one car salesman that I can tolerate...bearly.

We have a template form that we email (used to fax) to either the wholesale salesperson, or now often, the online sales guy. We let them know exactly what we want (make, model, color), exactly when we want to buy (2 day weekend), and ask that they submit the best price in writing to us (email/fax).

We saved $5000 over a friend who purchased the same Odyssey (in the showroom) in the same month.

Definitely check out the odyssey club forum and you can actually find threads of what people in your area are paying.
We were able to score a touring elite for less than a touring as this model wasn't selling as well as other models so they were willing to discount more. The more popular models are not going to be discounted as much so do some research before heading to the dealer.

Another vote for RUNNING from that lease and just buying it.

Same here. We print out the email and bring it in with us when we are ready to buy to be sure the price is not changed.

We just purchased a 2014 Touring Elite, but had priced out several other models before deciding on the Elite. I will say that by dealing with several Honda dealerships and reaching out to the online sales dept, we could have gotten a screaming deal on a 2014 EX-L. The drive out price was under the invoice price. We did not get that same deal on the Elite because they are so elusive in our area - they sell before even hitting the dealer lots because so many people want to buy them.

We purchased our 2014 Elite before it had even been unloaded from the delivery truck. It is a great van, I would certainly recommend it.

Yes, when we emailed/faxed dealerships, it was 5+ different dealerships, maybe even close to 10. We have a lot of Honda dealerships in Ohio/Ky/In Cincinnati area.

I bought a Honda Odyssey in 2007. The one below the Touring. I get 17 mpg city and 23 mpg hwy. Keep that in mind, as far as numbers go. (Much worse than I got with my previous van, Oldsmobile Silhouette 20/28).

I drive more than 15000 miles in a year. A lease would never work for us.

The last two cars we bought we used the internet and phones to work the pricing with dealers, before ever stepping foot in a dealership. We would end up with two dealers who came in close on pricing and worked for the deal. (Also, buying on the last day of the month is a good way to get a great price, when they are trying to hit a quota).

. My 2013 odyssey gets 30 mpg on the highway:)

Seems like you could buy it outright with the dealer incentives they are offering right now for less. I did an online quote and got my CRV for a lot less than invoice, you could try that. I actually bought a car that I didn't drive first (I drove several CRVs that were different models) I have been very happy with my Honda and will probably be getting a new one and giving mine to DD who is about to get her license.

We bought an 2005 in 2012 with under 50k miles on it. Our payments are under $300 a month. We traded in our Ford Windstar. We haven't had anything but simple routine maintenance on the Honda. We love it.
I would for sure look into purchasing one vs leasing.
