HoND has amazing soundtrack. Lyrics are so awesome, especially in "And He shall smite the wicked" and "Heaven's light/Hellfire". It's an angry soundtack, enraging even...
I enjoy the good humored ones as well. Like "Topsy turvy". "A guy like you" is totally surreal.
This OST, as profound as it is, gives me shivers. Enjoy some of it:

You know, I wasn't sure what HOND was - and here I was teaching you the abbreviations! It is indeed an awesome soundtrack - I particularly like the opening track. It doesn't really get enough recognition.

Yes... it doesn't !
And honestly, as one (if not most!) on the "adult side", I find the whole movie more meaningful, as compared to movies as "Frozen"... After all, it is based on a beloved classic. Disney was very bold with this movie. There is a scene where for a second you can see the naked upper part of Esmeralda too.
I never thought that I'll see in a Disney film a prayer to Virgin Mary to destroy someone if that someone does not *offer* (indeed, offer! He wanted to caught her and yet she to offer herself to him) her advances...
I admit Claude character was shaded as a villain from the start. All of his compassion from the original wasn't there, all of his pity and goodness weren't. Disney made that version of Claude in the character of the priest. Kind of splitted them, as some previous adaptations made.
However, it is very distinctive from the other movies. Kudos to them that made another beloved movie...death of Claude was very like the original, I just love it! Claude was notable villain, one of the greatest villains in their history. Otherwise, lyrics from other languages are even more true to the book, and more aggresive too. Listen to the french one:

A few years ago, I was in Paris and I listened to the opening number in front of the Notre Dame. It was one of the most amazing moments ever. To capture a building in music... wow.
My favourite is The Court of Miracles.

It's the only soundtrack I only listen to in Dutch, the Dutch dubbing and the translation are in my opinion better than the English original.
The only downside is, the actor who did the speaking voice of Frollo was not a singer and his part was sung by a different actor. And the two voices are too different.

I am not sure if I still have it, but one time in my local library in a very small village in the middle of nowhere they had a sale of old books & cds. I found a copy of the Japanese soundtrack of Hunchback and I bought it. I wonder what went through the librarian's mind who bought that copy for the library. Probably a mistake and wanted to order the English ;-)

Somehow writing it out as HoND makes it a bit easier to decipher.

So wait... your theory is that songs written in English are better translated in Dutch? I could see if the songs were originally written in Italian and the loose English translation didn't carry over well. But you can't say the Italian version of the lyrics don't make any sense to a native Italian speaker, but are better when loosely translated into Guyanese. Or am I missing your meaning.

Just watched this film with some fellow Disney fans (remotely, of course) a few days ago. Great soundtrack and yes, that opening number never disappoints. It's quite a good movie, though a bit less gargoyle would have suited me.

What I meant is that the Dutch translation of the English language better reflects the emotions of the characters or the events of the story. I consider myself practically fluent in English, and it's not that I do not understand the lyrics and text in English, I think the Dutch translator did an amazing job and improved upon the text. They say that when you translate a song or a text you lose something of the original, but it can also add something.
