We are thinking of joining DVC at the end of this year. We want to be able to put cash down. And my question is what sort of homework should I be doing in the meantime. I will continually read this forum for input. our heart was set on BCV but it's sold out. We'll be looking into resale. By the time the year ends SSR may be booked also. Does anyone have any input into anyone at DVC that i should talk to this early? Or should i just wait until we're completely ready to purchase? Not to sound like a downer or anything but in the meantime I'll just work like a dog to pay for it! But I tell myself it'll all be worth it!
Thanks

We found the salesperson who worked with us on the phone (Nick Tamberrino) was not at all pushy. There's a thread on the board right now in which people listed their favorite salespeople and why they liked them.

Instead of doing your homework alone, you might also open a conversation with sales, who can answer many of your questions right away.

Of course, the best homework is to choose which resort is dearest to your heart. Then do whatever you can to get into that one.

There other thing to think about if you buy now is that you can get a $5 discount on the per point charge with at the SSR is reg $89 a point bringing it to $84 a point. Plus the other resorts only have a maximum time of 39years that the timeshare is good for where are the SSR is 50 years. But even if you don't think you will need it for 50 years then you will be able to sell it. Where are with a used timeshare you will have few years and less of a resale if you think down the line you want to sell or transfer to a family member.
I just bought SSR last week and we dealt with Jeff Jarosz he was very nice. Even when we had 2nd thoughts and cancelled our 2nd visit only to think about it and return 2 hours later to sign the papers.
It is well worth the investment.
So if you know you can afford it in a few months why not go ahead now. If you book the SSR there are no payments till June or July 2004!
Hope this helps!!
