Homewood vs Doubletree vs Embassy

Hi there!

Does anyone have any experience with these hotels? I have always used Hilton or Hampton Inn hotels and have points for free stays. But because of the size of our family the only options are the above suites. Just wondering if one is considered nicer than the others or not. It's only for one night when we arrive in Orlando and then we will be staying on property at Disney.

My biggest concern with hotels is always cleanliness. If anyone has stayed at these chains or a specific one in Orlando I would love to hear about it.

Thanks!

Heather

I don't think you have to worry about cleanliness with any of those. As far as niceness, I would say Doubletree and Embassy are nicer than Homewood.

I've stayed at the Doubletree at the Entrance to Universal. It was more upscale than a Hampton. I'm not sure if the Doubletree Downtown Disney is as nice because I haven't stayed there.

I've stayed at Embassies and Homewoods, but not in the Orlando area. Both are all suites, but Homewood is more of an extended stay type place with a kitchen, bedroom(s), and a living room. The one I stayed at in Atlanta had kind of an apartment complex layout where you park outside your room. There was a central building for check in, breakfast, pool, etc.

Embassy rooms are more of a hotel suite, a bedroom and living area but no kitchen. There is usually a nice atrium area in the center of the hotel where they serve the made to order breakfast

I've stayed at each of these Hilton chains around the U.S. over the years.

As for the Orlando area, in December 2009 I stayed at Homewood Suites Lake Buena Vista. Great place, opened just few months before I stayed there. Close to Disney World, clean, nice sized suites, full kitchen. In August 2008 I stayed at Embassy Suites Orlando International Drive/Jamaican Court, and it was great - clean and great made-to-order breakfast. Suites were a little smaller than the Homewood LBV, but very nice; that particular Embassy Suites is a little further from Disney than Homewood LBV.

There is new Embassy Suites opening on March 15, 2013 near the Orlando airport and new is good!

I've stayed at both Homewood Suites and Embassy Suites in Orlando - on the north side of Orlando not LBV. Homewood Suites is nice in that they have almost a full kitchen (no oven but everything else) - the rate also includes breakfast and Mon - Thurs a light dinner (like fajitas/salad) and drinks - wine/beer - this is really nice if you have a long stay and want to cut down on food costs.

I like Embassy Suites as well - also have a good cooked to order breakfast on "real" plates which is nice with chips/salsa and drinks in the evening, often an indoor pool and restaurant on property.

I thought both were clean and comfortable - I liked the layout of the room at Homewood Suites better - and the kitchen was a plus. I would stay at either again - Homewood Suites LBV does get pretty good ratings on Trip Advisor and I have bookmarked it for a future stay.

My choice would definately be the Embassy..... (LBV)

several reasons....

1) no parking fee
2) no resort fee
3) living room / bedroom set up
4) breakfast
5) excellent pool with movies outside.
6) mgr reception in the eve

p.s. dont choose the Double tree by sea world.....very lousy

I have stayed at the Homewood Suites LBV Nov 2011. It was ok but the room really wasn't the cleanest and the sofa bed wasn't good at all. My daughter said it felt like there were springs coming up out of it. By cleanliness I don't mean it was dirty just that it wasn't up to the standards I was used to w/ Homewood Suites. One of the beds sheets even had a couple of holes in it.

I would go back again because the hotel itself was clean and breakfast area was nice (even if they were a tad bit pushy).

Have you thought to check out the newer Drury Inn & suites? We haven't ever went wrong with any Drury. Love the food/drinks at night and morning breakfast.

Thanks for the replies. I think after further research I am dropping Doubletree from the mix. They don't offer breakfast and charge for parking so just not worth it to only be 1.5miles closer for one night.

So it's between the Homewood Suites LBV and Embassy LBV. Looking at their rates Embassy is pricier which normally would make me assume nicer than Homewood. But I wanted to get a feel for them.

The made to order breakfast sounds nice and may be more helpful for us as a family with a few food allergies. The standard continental buffet usually makes me nervous.

And pp I don't think Drury is a Hilton hotel, right? Trying to use Hilton points for a free stay with this one. But thanks!

Sorry bout that. I missed the points part. Homewood suite lbv would be ok w using points and their breakfast was actually nice.
