Aloha from Maui!

This is my first off official post as a member. However, I've been a silent fan of the boards since January, when I started reading tips for my family's vacaton to Disneyland this past December. Everything I read really made our holiday trip that much more special, as we were able to take advantage of things I never even knew existed.

Anyhow, now that our vacation is over, I find myself feeling an immense sense of homesickness. I don't have another trip to look forward to or plan for for a long time since travelling from Hawaii doesn't come cheap. I thought joining the board would be a good way to keep my Disney spirit alive. I miss the lights of main street, splash mountain, the corn dogs, and the smell of churros and popcorn. :(

Anyone have tips on how to counter the Disneyland Blues after your much anticipated vacation is over??

Welcome!!!

I know the feeling, I get the DL blues all the time. The only way I've been able to get rid of them, or at least keep them down is to just think about when I get to go again! Try planning another trip, even if it's 5 years away!! Start by just putting a jar on your kitchen counter labeled "Disneyland" and just start tossing change into it :)

That's funny, I miss Maui! But I do know what you mean. I am a So. Cal. native, but lived on Oahu for 2 years. Living in So. Cal. meant it was fairly easy to visit Hawaii, at least back then. Now I live in Texas, and it is pretty difficult to visit So. Cal. let alone Hawaii. I didn't realize that moving to TX would mean I wouldn't get to go to Hawaii. I should have though it out much better! Anyway, like the other poster said, start a Disneyland fund and soon enough you will be back on Walt's Main Street enjoying the sights and sounds that you yearn for. I listen to Israel K's music on my iPod, I gotta have something to look forward to one day! A hui hou!

I love the jar idea. I may do that for ours. We're tentatively planning for 2010! We went in Dec and it's the first year that I've been so enamored with DL that I was sad to leave.

I miss it a lot too and I thought I wouldn't be able to come here..but even thinking that in two years we can go back..I get excited. (I guess only a year and a half?!?!)

Even after my trip is over I always leave the jar out so it's ready to collect for the next one :) I've upgraded too a HUGE water jug now because even a milk jug is too small when you're tossing change in all the time. My friends and family even put their change in it when they see it

A few ideas...
  • Help others on DIS with their trips (careful, it's addicting)
  • Go through your vacation photos
  • Create a photo album / scrapbook from your vacation photos
  • Watch Fantasmic! and parades on youtube

Thanks for all the ideas. I think I'm going to start off with a scrapbook from the last trip. I took 527 photos!!! That should keep me busy for sometime. And seeing how I'm a plan ahead kind of person... planning a trip a couple years from now isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

I agree watch the parades on youtube it really does help
We made a photo album and look at it nearly every week
I understand we live in Australia and last year was our second trip in six years it does cost a lot of money just keep saving and planning

Our last trip I spent over 2000 hours in planning 300+ drafts on what to do and 6 years of dreaming and saving maybe abit over the top but helped pass the time it got that bad in the last year that I was taking print outs to work just to dream and think things out all for a 14 day holiday in the USA it was worth it

I bet there are things you did not do this time so plan them into your next trip
We are saving to go again in 2010

Also what about the other Disney parks in the world may be Hong Kong or Japan
