Basically you take on the education of your children. Personally we use an online charter school. Gives the best of both worlds for us. Allows me to teach Nick but he still gets public school credit. Here is a thread from a couple months ago

This is often a "hot topic" around here, so be forewarned.

Home schooling is just teaching your children at home, rather than having them attend a traditional school - public or private.

There are a variety of ways that people do it. I think most parents teach their children themselves, but there are groups that co-op the teaching (parents sharing their strengths & passing off their weak areas). You can also do extension courses on-line or by correspondence.

Each state has its own rules governing what is actually required.
