Who's homeschooled out there? I've been homeschooled my entire life (except for one year when I was in private school. Worst. Year. Ever.) I love being homeschooled. I can sleep in late if I was up late:surfweb: , I can choose if I want to do alot or a little of a certain subject (such as Algebra:headache: ). I can also go on vacation whenever:goodvibes .

So who else is homeschooled? What's your favorite and least favorite part of it?

Heyo peoples! I'm homeschooled too! I went to public school for grades, 2,3, and 4, the worst years in my life! LOL! I love being homeschooled, it's totally awesome. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm a freshman this year and History and Language are my favorite subjects!

HOMESCHOOL ROCKS!

I'm homeschooled! The only thing I don't like about it is the no socialization, but other than that I love it. I do all of my work through an online thing. I love being able to get up in the morning whenever I want. And being able to do work at any time of the day, I did some work at 2 AM one time. Oh and this was my first year of being homeschooled, I was in public school through 9th grade, started homeschooling in 10th. :)

I used to be home schooled for 4th & 5th grade and for the beginning of 6th grade I did a "virtual classroom" online. It was awesome! I would wake up and do the class [it was fun, there were other students in the classroom with a teacher and we had headsets so she could call on us and we could raise our hands and pass notes, lol.] at 9am and then finish at 10am or 11am, then do some extra work and eat lunch and be done by 12 or 1. It was so nice. I really wish I could do it again. But my mom thought I wasn't being social enough so she put me and my brother in a private school. I'm trying to convince my mom to home school me again for high school and we can get an RV and travel the country, but noooo. Apparently it's "not that easy". :rotfl:
I know I work better independently, so I really loved being home schooled.

I'm homschooled. This is my second year, im taking sophomore classes and some junior classes. i guess i like it, i like the sleeping late, and working at my own pace, and not the school boards. which our school board sucked. I still go to all the school games and dances, and i go over to my friends just about every night. So nothings really changed to much.

Does anyone know how i can go about being put into homeschoolin as a highschool...a teenager..is there any out there that are free???and lets you learn at your own pace and one that doesnt need yourparents??? i have found that i dont think public high school is for me..i do so awful in public schooling i just need to find something that works for me. :confused3

Homeschool doesn't work for me. I was homebound this past year, my 9th grade year. I HATED it. I need to be able to talk to someone face to face if I have a question. I can't just "teach myself". Nope, no online schools or anything for me.

OP, what do you mean by "getting to do as much or as little work as I want to do". Do you mean :
1 - "I hate Algebra so I'm going to do the bare minimum required to pass the class"
or
2 - "I don't feel well today, so I'll only do half of my Algebra today, and finish the rest tomorrow"
???

I am Homeschooled and have been since 4th grade and I am in 11th grade now I love it!! Especially this year since We found a Homeschool Cheerleading squad to join! We cheer for a homeschool football team and it's awesome! We have Stunt Clinic, Cheer Camp, Sleepovers and Homecoming so we don't miss out on not being with friends it's awesome!! :cheer2:

I do the same thing. Sometimes I do one geometry lesson (or any other subject) a day, and sometimes I do two. It just depends on how energetic I feel.

By the way, homebound and Homeschooled are two different things. Homebound is where you are at home but using your old school's curriculum. Homeschool is where you have curriculum that is designed specifically for teaching yourself.

Anyway... Im a freshman this year and its my first year homeschooling. Before that, I went to a private Christian school. I use Teaching Texbooks for geometry, Apologia for Biology, Notgrass for World history, Bible, World Lit. Rosetta Stone Spanish, Wordly Wise Vocab, and another grammar supplement. We couldnt really seem to stick to one brand.

But I still can play on my old school's basketball team.

Not for me. I had a specially built curriculum designed by the teachers at my school. I had a teacher come out and help me with stuff when I needed and she also graded everything. I didn't do projects, I had a book, quizzes, and worksheets. Read, do work, study, take quiz. No guidance by anyone.

Even though it was specially designed, it was still public school curriculum.

And I dont have any guidance by anybody either. My mom grades my papers.

And didnt you just say that you had a teacher come out and help you? Wouldnt that be considered guidance?

I need that.

Im a reader and all I do is just read read read then study it wile im reading to make sure i get it good, then when its time to do my work im all set.

I cant STAND when teachers are like "and so then the earth's tectonic plates shift causing- JIMMY! JIMMY LET ME READ THIS NOTE ALOUD "I think Chelsea is SEXY...oh..oh my...such a disturbing topic...do you need me to write you up Mr.!?"

I cant do it.

I could get a LOT more done then I do in school, if i could just read, study some binder papers, do worksheets then take the test.

I would be SO much smarter.

I loved doing summer work books, they describe how to do it and then you try a few on your own.

I love those things.

Makes everything so much easier, where in the book they dont talk about Jimmy's sexy girls.

smarter=/=how well you do in school.
some of the smartest people i know make cs and ds on their report cards.

i was homeschooled. it sucks. im a social person, so i like being in groups. i'm not super great at just chillin at home, doing homework. i like to be with my friends and stuff.

i'm currently taking english 101 online, and thats a lot like homeschooling, except i get to interact with my classmates more.
