Hi! We have homeschooled our daughter since 1st grade (4th gr now). I have not seen a dedicated post for fellow HS Disney fan families, so thought I would post to see who else joins me in this incredible adventure!

I would love to connect and share! We visit disney every 1-2 years with our last visit Nov 2020 and next in Sept.

Do you make your trips just fun or purposefully incorporate learning opportunities? We believe every moment, whether intentional or not, affords the opportunity to learn.

We are going and we'll have to do some homeschooling (we work through a homeschool charter, so we are supposed to track hours). I am hoping to make some fun activities for Epcot and AK as that seems the easiest to incorporate. We are also going over to the NASA space center. I'd love any tips for things you've done in the past! I was going to make them little passports for the World Showcase with some activities, maybe some graphing activities. I have to get cracking on all these ideas.

Homeschooling family here as well.
We go to Disney almost every year; last visit was May 2021, next is at the end of April this year.
We usually just keep it fun, but agree that even every day things can be educational. Our kids (7, 6, 5 & 2) love animals; one thing we do at our local zoo is try to find the whole alphabet with animal names, I'm sure we'll do that in AK. I also want to try the Wilderness Explorers thing at AK, anyone know if they still do that?

Yep, they still do the Wilderness club--- my kids love it !!

We're going in May and ending our school year before the trip. That's not to say they won't learn something but it's not a huge focus. Mine are 12, 9 and 7 (when we go). I also have a 4 year old.

We have had our kids do a lot of planning...So for us the "educational" part is before we go.
Figure out our daily schedule, using maps and crowd calendars.
Figure out if the dining plan works, looking at our dining plans.
That sort of thing. When we are there, I think the only thing else we've done is try to notice cast members name tags, and have some conversations...
We also took advantage of the Disney Youth programs and discount tickets. The programs were wonderful!

Has anyone done the kid cot stuff recently? Would it be too "little" for an almost 11 year old? I was going to make my kids a little passport for Epcot and worksheets to fill out facts they learn etc, but wondering if we should incorporate this for 7 and 10 year old.

On the tail end of our homeschooling adventure now. Three kids down, two left in high school. We went to Disney about every other year. We always drove from CT down to FL so we worked in some lessons and history stops along the way. When we got to WDW that was just considered the school break at that point, no schooling. Family vacations were one of the best things about homeschool. I could schedule my vacations any time if the year.

We drive from NJ, so our kids learn things from the different states we go through on the way down.

Homeschool family here! We did a unit study on the state of Florida, the solar system and are finishing up a unit study on space exploration. Planning a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center and the kids think they want to ride Mission Space (may have to do that without me). I don't focus so much on "education" during the trip but like to have them know what kinds of things we may be seeing or experiencing. It invests them a little more in our vacation if they have some understanding about what we are seeing and they like to show off what the remember.
