Homeland Security Advisory System going from yellow to orange

This is what is being said on CNN - Quote

There are "credible reports" of the possibility of attacks against the homeland during the holiday season and "significant concern" about al Qaeda's continued desire to use aircraft as weapons, a homeland security spokesman said.

U.S. officials were also concerned that one of al Qaeda's top objectives is to acquire and develop chemical, biological and radiological weapons.

Dan -- i liked your other post ( Time ) first line really did it for me.

They swept across Iraq and conquered it in 21 days

You've got that right. ::yes:: Thanks for the perspective, Dan.

Thanks for the heads up Dan! :)

Sad that these always seem to come at our most joyous times isnt it :(

I think always being aware is in our best interest anyway :)

Happy Holidays everyone!

How dare they raise the threat without Goofyposter here to tell us about it. :(

Where the heck is that guy anyway??

Hi all. :wave2:

Hi Maggie!

Hi Mare!

Thanks for bringing out some of my favorite people Dan!

'Tis the season! ::yes::

Hi Maggie!

Hi Mare!

Hi Blondie!

JJ, will this be a thread that you and your friends wet yourselves laughing to? I believe you said that was your m.o. last time after you engaged us in debate. I love to see the exchange of different opinions around the country and across the world, but you sort of lost your credibility when you made that statement.

Dan, thanks for the info -- I tend to not put too much stock in the threat level color, living here in Washington, D.C. its always a bit precarious. All we can really do is give it to our higher power and hope for peace.

Amen, cuz!

Alerts do nothing for me or my life either. After living 31 years in Brooklyn ALERT is the only way I know how to live!! :p God bless you all who know what it's like to live without any sense of danger. I don't have a clue what that's like!

Maggie I must have dreamt you up!! My son was singing "Mellow Yellow" in his earphones the other day and all I could sing was "I'm just mad about Saffron, and Saffron's mad about me...." LOL!!

snoopy - try reading all of the thread before you comment - you'll find i made reference to my last post ;)

jj........

jj......... ;)

I'm hardly jumpy jj. I am well aware that this whole thing wasn't over with this capture and even if they capture Osama... I do have family in the military and am well aware of what is going on.

Someone is cranky today and for once it isn't me. ;)

Edited to add: Hi Saffron I've been wondering about you :) Hope all is well

I look at the heightened level as a sign that we are stepping up security, which is a comfort to me.

You made reference to your last post and acknowledged that it was antagonistic, but that doesn't change the fact that you lost your credibility with it, at least for me. I don't care to engage in a discussion with you, because I don't trust your motives.

Hope you have a most blessed and peaceful holiday though! That goes for everyone on this thread, no matter where you live or where you stand on the political spectrum. :)

Maggie, so nice to see you, you have been missed very much by many. Please do drop by more often. :wave2:

Thanks for the heads up Dan.

Hi, Maggie!

Hi, Blondie!

Hi, Mare!

Hi, Snoops!

Hi, Preshi!

Here's your consolidated wave....I used too many the first time around! (Boy, have things changed around here!) :wave2:

HI, DAN! :wave2: ......and thanks!

HI TO ANYONE I MISSED! :wave2:

We all seem to crawl outta the woodwork sometimes....

Oh, and if JJ is wet.....is it because it's raining in Ireland??? Oh, wait....it's Sunday.....BATH DAY! :teeth:

Raising the terrorist alert? We should all be vigilant every day of our lives.....and continue to LIVE! But then again.....I live in the shadow of the WTC, on the anthrax corridor in the great gun wielding, welfare using, fraud ridden state of New Joisey! (did I get all the incorrectly perceived paranoia written in one sentence?)

And I like it!

Wow!!!!!!!! This is like a DIS reunion, homecoming!!!!!! I wonder who else we can shake out of the woodwork here!!!!! Hi Gina!!!! :wave2:

The increased level makes me angry that we have to deal with more threats. I know that people in other parts of the world deal with terrorism every day- and that makes me angry and saddened, too. BUT, in this hopeful time of year, I pray that we can take this as a time of "making peace and not war"- of trying to solve problems rather than prolong or create them no matter what your political view. I hate that my children must grow up in a time where they see heavily armed police at public events, at the airports, and on the streets. I am angry that their innocence has been robbed. I feel so badly for a group of people who feel that terrorist acts and suicide bombings as a means of getting to heaven are all they have hope in- what a sad existence they must live with no hope for a better tomorrow. I can't imagine being so desperately sad. I know that we must go about our daily lives- the terrorists have won (but at the same time so desperately lost) if we hide and stop living. I hope that I can say the right things so that my children sleep soundly at night. I wish I could take the pain away my children, from all the children. I pray that their generation has the common sense to stop all this nonsense. Maybe my children's generation will finally get it right. I hope for peace, not oranges or yellows or any other colors, just peace.
