so i'm out of school today, for homecoming. I'm dressed like Cyndi Lauper for the home coming parade. Our theme is bicentennial (its my towns) so everyone on my float is dressed from different eras. I'm doing 80s. we've got hippies and go go dancers and discoers and beatniks and a LIVE BAND on our float. Our float is basically a big rotating mural of my town, with football players and stuff in front of it. Sophomores are so winning this year. ;)

So tell me about your homecoming. Do you have a parade? Did you work on your float? Whats your theme?

ho-lee cow!!!

we don't really have homecomings in canada...i flipin wish we did!
that sounds like so much fun!!!!
sounds like an awesome float!
i'm jealous.
yeah...we're not so into homecoming in my area. which sucks, beause it would be a blast!

That's so awesome!
I hope you guys win!

I have no idea about our homecoming.
I'm only a freshman and not even in the high school yet.
Sorry.

We have homecoming but it is not near as extravagant as yours. We just nominate people from all of our clubs and sports and then vote. We all go out onto the football field and ride in Corvette Convertibles around the field but that is about it.

We just have a football game and a homecoming dance (semi-formal) in like November when it's like 2 months after school started so it's not really homecoming.

Our homecoming is next week. It sounds like your is rather groovy. I would have loved to be dressed up as a hippie.:hippie:

Homecoming was today. we all gathered in one of the rotundas, while the drumline played. Band was there too, but drumline out louded them. We all then went down to the gym, and had a pep rally. Saw all the sports teams, the cheerleaders performed. Human Pyramid competition. Solja Boy or whatever competition. Couple of Battle Cries. School Fight song, went home. I'm going to head up to the game later tonight. Go Big Reds!

The parade went FABULOUS! Our float was amazing. The freshmen sucked hard, though. Everyone else went all out. It looked like they didn't even try.

Ha, that's so cool! Glad you had fun.

Our homecoming is on September 28th, next Friday. It's very...low key. First we have a little "preview" of the pep rally during school in the morning, in the gym. They introduce the varsity sports teams, and then the cheerleaders perform. Sadly, our cheerleaders are really bad. Not like, bad technique wise, they're just extremely quiet and they act like they don't want to be there. It slows the whole thing down. Anyways, then at night we have the actual pep rally for the whole town (also in our gym), and that's basically the same thing, but a lot louder and more fun. Then everyone runs outside to the baseball/soccer field, and we have a bonfire. And the night ends with the homecoming dance. Not everyone who goes to the pep rally and the bonfire go to the dance though. It's probably about...40ish people from each grade, with 150 people in each grade. Personally, I think the dance is the best part. Just cause that's the only one we have (besides prom), and it's a cool tradition.

 Oh my goodness!

Yeah, I didn't go to our game last year, but I want to go this year. No idea how many people go to ours though, but six thousand's a lot!

That's so cool!
Our's is Night on the red carpet.
I don't know if we are doing a float though.

I'm excited about it.

Last year the team we're playing did terrible, and they got set as our homecoming match this year. Now they're doing great! tehy beat one of the hardest teams last week, so we don't know whats going to happen. They're trash talking saying that they're goign to have more fans than we will and they'll beat us at homecoming. they're saying their fans are better than ours and all that, so this is going to be one of the BEST homecomings ever.

Wow, reading all this I realize how little my school does. We have a Spirit Week and instead of bringing the school together it really creates class rilvalry.

Last year in February each class had a different color. Seniors were blue, Juniors were red, Sophomores were green, and Freshmen were orange. They wore their colors to school and decorated their hallway in their color. But the stupid part was that they cleaned up the hallways after homeroom so their was really no point in decorating.

I really wish that my school did a lot of stuff for homecoming.

Homecoming at my school is pathetic.

We have a "spirit" week. Crazy hair day, dress your best day, and purple pride day are among the themes.

And then we have to game.

Last year, each of the football players and each of the cheerleaders got to choose one person to escort them onto the field. This year, they are assigning each cheerleader 2 football players to escort onto the field.

No dances.

No Parades.

Not even a pep rally.

Why?

Because the booster club thinks it'll cause too much drama.

In other words, they are lazy and short on cash.

Your school had an awesome theme.

6,000 people D: yikes. Hope you have a big stadium. xD

My school's homecoming was last week. (so early! :l) Instead of the normal one homecoming day, we have a homecoming week. We had dress up days, a powderpuff game, a senior boys vs. faculty football game, a bonfire, a parade, a varsity football game, a pep rally, and a dance. The theme this year was 70's. Eh, could've been a better theme, I suppose. Besides prom of course, homecoming is the highlight of the school year here. It's always so much fun.

I really don't care for homecoming. (Today is our homecoming too)

I'd probably hate it a lot less if I wasn't in band, though.

Since I'm in band, I only had my first hour class. My schedule today:

1st hour
Pep rallies at primary and intermediate center schools (1st-2nd gr and 3rd-5th gr)
Rehearse for half time at tonights game
play at our pep rally
then march in parade

It probably wouldn't have been has bad if we didn't have to be in full uniform for all the pep rallies.

AND IT WAS SO EFFING HOT TODAY. And our wool uniforms didn't help.

I have to leave in about an hour and a half to march at the game. It's supposed storm tonight though, so I'm praying for lightning.

Sorry. that's my rant. :)

Like I said, our homecoming is today. I helped build our class float last night, and our school also lets each class paint a window of a business in town, and each class gets to decorate their hallway in school, then they're all judged. We have a parade, with all the class floats, high and middle school marching bands, homecoming court, and business floats. It's nice.

We have spirit week, also. This week it was:
Monday: Pattern Day Tuesday: Superhero Day Wednesday: Decade Day Thursday: Class Color Day Friday: Red Day (our class color)

we have homecoming.

it's in two weeks from tonight.
there's a soccer game thursday, football game friday, and then a dance on saturday.

i don't have a date yet. i'll probably just end up going with my girl friends.
i doubt we have a theme.
and we do paint windows through out town. then have a parade.

I love the last one.
The Outsiders, is pure brilliance.

I don't know what my school does for homecoming. I don't even know if it's called homecoming, I think it may be called Spirit Week, but I'm not sure.

So... now I feel bad.

We (the marching band) went and did pregame like normal, but while doing so it started lightning. So after we were done we hauled *** back to the band room to wait it out. We were waiting in the band room for about an hour and a half until they finally told us to go home, we weren't going to march at halftime.

They're still doing the game, though. :/

I feel so bad lmao
