Chicagoland...semi formal to formal...semi meaning strapless or spaghetti strap dress in nice material...glittery or the like, my DD hits the after prom sales also...HUGE savings! My DD is tiny a size 0 to 1/2 or 1, so borrowing usually does not work out for her but other girls have done it. Her freshman year she started to go with the updo, but the gazillion bobby pins were giving her a headache so she had the stylist take them out!

I figured she was doomed by then, but wore it down and slightly flipped up and tips gelled, then siver glitter sprayed in it. There is a range of dress lengths..seems like the juniors or seniors can get away with the mini hootchie style or the all out glam formals, the underclassmne are usually in tealength/handkerchief or floor lencth. DD wore one that started at her knees in the front and swooped around to a floor length mini train in the back, burgundy with some crystal beading along the a-line, spaghetti straps, black strappy sandals (4 " heels, like I said, she's tiny) and an updo this year. She took a coupla motrin before the hair appt this time. She has gone with a datecombined with a group before, and this year went with a " guyfriend" and a group...she like this year much better. Usually as soon as the first poster goes up in the school halls, homecoming is all the kids talk about.
I actually saw some kids taking Limo's to the restaurant and dance this year, that's crazy....I don't care how many are splitting the cost...it is just out of place for HC in my opinion, I mean, what's left for Prom, or their Wedding even? A lot of the girls go to tanning salons, get their nails done, some of the jewelry is unbelievable. I am lucky DD is prett basic, the updo is as extravagant as she gets. She made her necklace from crystal beads at Hobby Lobby and barely wears any make-up...wore clear polish on her finger and toe nails, and brought her mangy summer flip -flops to change into at the dance. I didn't complain, it was better than her going barefoot on the floor! She paid for her dress and ticket, and we popped for her updo, dinner and throw-away camera. It seemed that even the couples went Dutch for dinner, and maybe the guy paid for the ticket.
I can't believe DD only has 2 HC left tho...that is if she graduates on schedule!
