We leave for our trip in 6 days. I've been trying to get an ADR for Homecomin' but I don't think it's going to happen.

I do have 2 searches going through reservation finder but just in case...

I see that you can order off the full menu at the lounge. Have any of you had any experience doing that? Is it just bar seating or do they have tables as well?

1 - they only release a limited amount of reservations to the system and do a lot of walk-ups. We have walked up almost every time, even on Friday nights with larger parties, and have never waited more than 20 minutes. Don't count it out if you can't get a reservation :)

2- if my memory holds, the lounge would just be the large bar area (some on a patio side but most chairs inside). It's been easy to grab a seat at the bar in the past and yes, you can order from the menu. I don't remember seeing any tables - I think the tables surrounding it are basic table seating handled by the hostess

There are some booths in the lounge as well. We almost always walk-up and sit at the bar. Three words: chicken thigh biscuits. So good.

Thank you guys! I have my heart set on eating at Homecomin'. I've never had shrimp and grits and I really want to order theirs. I've been so bummed about not being able to get an ADR.

It helps to know we might be able to do a walk-up.

Don't forget to keep checking your reservation finders even on site. People frequently cancel at the last moment. Homecomin' is not on my bucket list (too easy to get the same dishes close to home) but I've noticed that at different times when the ADR system shows no availability there are entire seating areas that are empty. Morimoto's Street Food makes for a fine "spying" site;).

We were not so lucky when trying to get a seat at the bar back in October. We did have an ADR and checked in about 20 minutes early, and went to the bar to have a drink but there were no seats together (needed 2). The bar stayed full throughout our meal, as we were seated right next to the bar. We were there in total for about 2 hours and I never noticed two seats open up together. I assumed this is because they were not taking walk-ups at that point.

Have you also tried the alternative reservation sites like Open Table? Many of the Disney Springs restaurants are on them as well and have more availability that directly through Disney. Not sure about Homecomin'

Homecomin’, unfortunately, isn’t on Open Table.

Last October there were no reservations available, I actually called the restaurant directly and was able to get a reservation at 11:45am. The hostess told me they don’t release all tables to Disney Dining. The fried green tomatoes and thigh high chicken and biscuits are sooooo good!

Woohoo! I've been trying to get a reservation on my arrival day (flight arrives at 4:20 p.m.) and per above suggestion (and some others I saw) I just called directly to Homecomin' and got a reservation for 8 p.m. which will give me time to get settled in at POFQ and take the boat over for dinner! Thanks for the tip!

How are you getting to POFQ?
I am thinking that is NOT enough time

It's worth a try to call the restaurant directly. I've done it twice and had success.

Is the lounge you all are talking about the walk-up window? If so, does anyone know if the AP discount that is offered in the restaurant is also offered at the walk up window?
