I'm not sure it has quite hit me yet, but we put down an offer on a house at about 3 pm today, and it was accepted by 7 pm.
We've been slowly planning our move from Northern California to the Seattle area for about a year now. We were there in February for a week to scout neighborhoods etc. We have plans to go back at the end of April to "do the actual househunting" however....
We got a listing from our agent Friday morning that I knew would go quickly. At about 4 pm, I had gotten a hold of everyone I needed to and got a great last minute fare up to Seattle. Our flight was at 8:30 PM!
We checked out the house from the email Saturday morning. Although the inside was just awesome, we did not love the nieghborhood, and it was at the high side of our budget. I was sort of disspointed, because I had been sure that was going to be our house...
We visited another house that had been on the market for a while. It was way less expensive then what we had been planning, but it was almost everything we wanted, in a great location. How could we say no?
So, long distance via email and faxes (isn't technology amazing!) we put in our offer, and got the word that it was accepted. Although we close at the end of April, we can't move until June 1.
Now I need to worry about paint samples and new furniture. I don't mind that AT ALL. This is our first house, and the first time I get to "decorate." I couldn't be happier! Any design advice will be well recieved
