I recently purchased a bottle of perfume and a small makeup kit from HSN.

Though my payment for each transaction included separate shipping charges, I received both orders together in one box(these items were sold independently).

I hadn't ordered anything from HSN in years and want to know if any of you can tell me if this is now the "norm" for them.

I love the products I received but I'm mad I was charged for each item to be shipped separately!

Thanks to all who respond!

OH HECK YES!!! And it's not just them, it's all of them. You can order 10 items all at the same time but you'll pay seperately for shipping on each. They won't even attempt to consolidate.

Here's the REALLY great thing: I live less than 20 min from one of QVC's shipping centers. I pay the same everyone else does and NO I CAN'T PICK UP and they WON'T consolidate either. I've placed an order at midnight and had it delivered the same day.

I would just be happy with consolidating all orders within a 24 hour period. If I want (just for example) 10 pieces of jewelry and the shipping averages $5 each NO DAMN WAY I'M PAYING $50 IN SHIPPING!!!

Sigh........can we say eBay?

Do they combine large items such as a coat/clothing/bedding?

HSN usually has a deal where if you order multiples of the same category of item you'll only pay 50% shipping on the items after the first. QVC does the same thing for items ordered from the same show or multiples of the same item.

Remember the charge is for shipping AND HANDLING. And the bulk of it is probably the "AND HANDLING".

I can only imagine what the overhead would be if they had to spend time figuring out what separate orders go to what address and putting them in the same package if they go to the same address. What if they go to the same address but to different people?

Now, if you have multiple items in the same order there should be some way of consolidating the package and shipping charges. However, they have multiple shipping centers so some products in an order could be coming from one place and the rest from another so they will HAVE to be in separate packages anyway.

I imagine it is simpler and more efficient for them to treat each item separately. If we want them to consolidate everything, we'll have to wait longer for them to consolidate the items in one package and we'll probably have to pay more in product cost to cover the overhead of them doing it.

So, I guess I understand why it is the way it is.

I very rarely order from QVC or HSN because of the shipping charges. I think they are very high. Sometimes what seems like such a good deal isn't when you add the $6, $7, $8 shipping. I am all about free shipping:rotfl2:
