We are thinking of buying DVC. I was wondering how the home resort thing works if we buy at 2 different resorts. For example if we buy 100 points at Beach Club and then add 100 points on at the Contemporary are both our home resorts to book at 11 months or the first one we bought? :confused3

In your example, you could use your 100 Beach Club points at the BCV at 11 months and your 100 BLT points at BLT at 11 months.

You can, however, bank and borrow, so that in any one year, you would have up to 300 points at that resort to use at 11 months. If you don't want to bank or borrow, you could start your reservation at 11 months and cross your fingers that the remaining nights you want would be available at 7 months.

If owning a small number of points at a particular resort gave you the 11 month priority for ALL your points, I think most of us would have a small contract at each resort. That would pretty much defeat the purpose of the 4-month home resort priority.... ;)

To add to the response you already received, if you are making a reservation at the Contemporary at 11-months and the room and length of stay requires 150 points, you will only be able to book the room and length of stay up to 100 points. The rest of your reservation using the remaining 50 Beach Club points will have to be made at the 7-month mark to continue your stay at the Contemporary. Which, I think, is a little risky. It's a little confusing, but your Home resort points are only for that resort at 11 months.

If you want to book a resort 11 months to 7 months plus 1 day in advance of check in, you need "local currency" -- BCV points if booking BCV, BLT points if booking BLT, etc. If you are booking 7 months or less from check in, any "currency" will do -- you can use points from any resort to make the reservation.
