Home Resort question with points.

Just wondering about point and Home Resorts when booking.

In order to book a resort say the Grand Californian do I need the entire point amount for that resort in order to book at the 11 month window OR can I own say 50 points there and then have 250 points at SSR and use all the points at the 11 month booking time?

Or would I be limited to book at the Grand at the 7 month window because the bulk of the points will be from SSR.

At 11 months out you can only use your GC points. However, you could borrow your GC from the following year and if you had banked points from the previous years you could theoretically have 150 GC points to book a vacation at 11 months out.

However you could not use the SSR points until the 7 month point if there is availability at that time.

If you want to book a resort more than 7 months out, only points from that resort can be used for payment. They can be points you own (banked, current or borrowed) or they could be points you had transferred into your account from someone who owned points at the resort you want to book.

In your example, you could use your GCV points (banked, current, borrowed) to book as many points as possible 11 months out. Once the 7-month window opens, you could try to add on additional nights using your SSR points, subject to availability at that time.
