Hi All,

I was just wondering what everyone did for their invitations for Intimate Weddings?
We have decided to make our own. I bought an invitation kit at a local craft store which comes with the invitation card stock, response cards and envelopes for both. I then purchased vellum paper which I cut into a mickey head as an overlay and attached with a white ribbon.
I just finished the prototype and was wondering what you think. Is it missing something or do you like it the way it is?

Hopefully the pic works, (it may not be the best quality):

those came out really nice - great job - your guests will love them

Can you try using the "insert image" option? I can't open your link for some reason...

The insert image option is the one that looks like a postcard with moutain on it -- if you don't see the button the code is:

just replace link with the link to your photo (right click on the photo in the webpage and choose copy image location)

Same goes for the thread about your dress-- can't see that photo either!

When I right click on the photo on the webpage it doesn't give me the option to "copy image location". The only way I can view the image link is to go under properties and cut and paste the URL.

It seems to be working for some to view, but not others. That's kinda strange. Gotta love computers :badpc:

I would love to see them! They sound perfect! I, too can't get the link to show!

Found Disney and DIY invites at this website http://www.capturedmomentsboutique.com.

When you right click on the photo, go to "Properties". That should give you the URL for the photo. Then, insert an image, and copy and paste the URL there....

I can't see either photos.... :confused3

Thanks for the input. At first I thought I needed to add something to them, but I think I like them just the way they are.
Now I just need to figure out how to make my cutting more smooth. I tried using an exactoknife and scissors but you can definitely tell that the vellum is hand cut. Any ideas?

did you make a template to "trace" with the exacto knife, or did you cut them freehand? i use circle cutters for scrapbooking. you could look at craft stores for that for the biggest parts, but you'd still have to do the ears separately. good luck!

I made a template to "trace". I think I'll have to practice my cutting a little bit with the scissors instead of the exactoknife.

How does a circle cutter work?

a little tip when using scissors - move the PAPER not the scissors and it helps to give a smoother line.

My circle cutter is an older version and is from Creative Memories. It uses a "circle track". The part that moves around has a little tiny razor. It's pretty easy to use. I know they sell them at craft stores, but I do not know how to use the newer models. Sorry I can't be of more help.

For your purpose, you could use it for the large arcs, but you'd still have to cut the ears. I looked online at joann.com and saw that Fiskars makes a shapecutter for about $20 USD. From what I read, it uses templates so it may be similar to mine. If you are interested in checking it out, I'd go to a store and look in the scrapbooking section. HTH.

The invitations came out really cute. Great job. I had an intimate in December and made my invitations using a kit from Michaels also.

I printed the image on the card itself and then printed the wording on the vellum. I never thought to cut the vellum but Beauty and the Beast would have been extremely hard to cut out! LOL

Originally I was thinking of printing on the vellum itself as well; however, I really wanted to cut it out in the shape of a mickey head and that didn't leave enough room to write everything.
I like your idea also of printing an image on the card itself, it's very pretty.
