Home improvement costs??

I am clueless when it comes to figuring out cost estimates. I was wondering how much it would cost (ball park figure) to add a bathroom with a shower stall in my finished basement. I have been told it would be easy because the plumbing is easily assessible. I wouldn't know if it would cost $1000 or $10,000!

It depends where you are. Friends of mine remodeled an existing bath with fairly low end materials (cheap off the shelf stuff from lowes) and left all of the plumbing in the same place. It cost about $7500 and they did some stuff themselves. My inlaws are currently doing a gut and remodel of their bathroom and I think the budget is more like $20,000. It includes moving some plumbing, tile instead of vinyl floor and acrylic surrounds, real wood vanity, custom vanity top instead of off the shelf cultured marble etc. It's not high end by any stretch of the imagination but they are getting all of it done (including the paint) by the contractors.
