We just returned from 4 great nights. We have stayed RPC twice, YC Conc, Poly GVC twice and Contemporary 12th floor twice and this was are best hotel expierence yet. The proximity to the pool and the abiltiy to pop in and out of the lounge was great. The ONLY thing I would like to see is a TV of some sort in the lounge. Please post any ???

I can't think of any questions off hand... But, we are really looking forward to staying in SL in 2 wks! It's been 17yrs since dh & I took our 2 older kids to DW and we stayed off property. When we decided to go this year dh really wanted to stay at the GF -- it looks beautiful in pictures!
Conceirge was great about making our reservations!

Dh is looking forward to relaxing in the lounge after a day at the parks! :teeth:

Glad to hear that you had a great stay. I can't figure out why SL doesn't have a tv. I'm going to email disney next week about it. If enough people complain maybe they'll listen. It would be nice to have a distraction for my 3 children while we try to eat or have an after dinner drink. We'll be there in Dec.

Glad you had a great stay at the GF. I have stayed in all the deluxes you listed, and I agree - the GF is the BEST!! Love that place. :flower:

I'm wondering if the lack of seating is the reason for no TV. When we stayed there last, they only had 4 round tables in the alcove and then the couches and a few easy chairs. I imagine with food service going on, they might be sort of hoping for guests to eat and run and free up those seats, instead of nesting.

I agree that they could easily make a kids corner though, like they have in some of the other lounges. The YC is a good example. Their TV is kids sized and it has a few kid's sized chairs and tables right around it. It doesn't take up much space at all.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. We've had two great vacations in Sugar Loaf.

But I have to say I'm glad there is no TV there. For me it would detract from the ambience. Everyone has a TV in their room and there are the little alcoves in the main lobby with Disney movies for children. I think it is very pleasant to enjoy a breakfast or cup of tea and a scone without hearing that. It is after all a small area. I've always enjoyed Tammi's description of the feeling of a B&B. :sunny:

OK, I'll ask questions!

  • What room did you have and did you like the view?
  • What was offered at the different times of day (b'fast, tea, evening, desserts)?
  • Were there nightly themes for the food? I thought I read that RPC had switched to theme nights for the food (like the Poly)? Was it good?
  • Did they have beer and wine in addition to the cordials?
  • Did you notice if they had milk for the kids?
  • How were the concierge staff? Friendly?
  • Was Mousekeeping good? Did you get any towel animals?
OK, those are my questions! :rotfl: I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip. I cannot wait for Nov 29 to get here!

Great questions!!!! :goodvibes

What are the veiws like from that building?

What room did you have and did you like the view? We had room 6112. It was next to the lounge on the first floor with a pool view. Excellent location for us with the children able to visit the lounge without having to go downstairs
What was offered at the different times of day (b'fast, tea, evening, desserts)? The morning had a very expansive continental breakfast. The afternoons offered cheese, cookies, veggies with dip. The evening and desert were great. Stuffed mushrooms, scallops wrapped in bacon, beef empinatas, strawberries with cream and many different bakery items.
Were there nightly themes for the food? I thought I read that RPC had switched to theme nights for the food (like the Poly)? There were not any themed nights. Was it good?
Did they have beer and wine in addition to the cordials? Yes
Did you notice if they had milk for the kids? Milk was available all day
How were the concierge staff? Friendly? Yes, very
Was Mousekeeping good? YES Did you get any towel animals? no

Thanks for the answers. It sounds delightful, and I can't wait until November.

Thank you for the wonderful *report*! :sunny: Youngest dd will love having milk available & dh will love having beer available. :rotfl:

By any chance did you request a tower room? It sounds like you had an awesome stay! Maybe they don't have TV's there because the sound would carry up to the rooms from the center of the lobby.

The views at Sugar Loaf are either of the gardens and pool or the marina and some of the lagoon.

Hi,

Happy to hear you had a great time. Just got back myself :teeth: I have stayed at GF a few times but never went back by the marina area (we are park maniacs). This time DD and I went back there to catch the fireworks ... while walking by the doors to SL I could see the food ... so nice!.

I am going to put some pics on my website when my laptop gets back from the Apple store. Thought I would throw a link up showing an earlier GF trip (my wife was about 5 months pregnant on this trip in Jan.):

DW and I are thinking about Jan. and would try to find avail for SL.

Oh and get this ... we are eating dinner tonight and she informs me that in November her company is having a conference at GF! But she mentioned that she would need to get one of her clients to RSVP.... in her words "Dont go doing any disboards double digit dancing just yet". I would be soooooo excited if someone RSVP'ed and I would stow away in her room. I was dancin' around tonight. Either way I think Jan. will be a go.

I will be at SL in December. I'm curious to know how were the CM's? Were they helpful if you wanted anything in particular that was not out on the tables, such as soda, chocolate milk? In the RPC, my children would nock on the CM's door and ask them for chocolate milk and they were very nice about getting it for them. I know they use some of the CM's from there, but not always.

Thanks!

Concierge cast members were available from 7am till 10pm. They were very accomodating and pleasant.

Welcome Back! We just got back on Saturday... We were upgraded to Sugar Loaf, and we were in 6309 - overlooking the Marina.

I also thought it was a great experience. This was our first stay at the GF and I am HOOKED!! We ate way too much, and now I miss my evening glass of wine

We also did not get any towel animals...

We stayed for a week at GF SL in July. The CM's were great. My son needed a certain brand of vanilla soy milk. They had it delivered along with a fridge in 20 minutes.

Did they charge you extra for the soy milk? Thanks!
