We weren't even planning on going until next year, but I got the fever and off we go in April!

We booked an AKL standard Savannnah w/ bunks for the 3 and 7 year old ($253/night through CRO instead of reg. $365!!). We've only stayed at the Poly before and had a great garden room in Tokelau. We hope to have just as good an experience at AKL.

Can you offer any helpful hints for room requests at AKL? Certain building, floor, etc?

Is there anything at the resort we need to be sure not to miss?

Thanks so much in advance!

Hey!!!

You are going to LOVE AKL!!::yes:: Our favorite resort prior to our stay at AKL was the Poly, but we have defected!!

The room view you request will depend on what animals you would like to see - giraffe are on every Savannah, but Zebra are only on Arusha and kudu are only on Uzima, ostrich are only found on the Sunset Sav. Oddly enough, you cannot see kudu from the Kudu Trail guest rooms!!

All rooms at AKL are in the same building. We stayed on Zebra Trail, Arusha Sav. on the second floor, which had a great view of the animals. We had room 2437, which was closer to the lobby than some of the farther out rooms, which may restrict your view a little, but we still found it a great room. BTW, the lobby is on the third floor at this resort.

Activities include cookie decorating at Boma restaurant, storytelling at Arusha Rock firepit in the evenings, night vision tracking at Arusha Rock after dark, and many more. At check-in you will receive a list of every activity/times on the back of your resort map! Your kids will have a lot to see and do at AKL - they may beg to leave the parks to go back "home" to AKL!!

:teeth:

I have found that the most convenient location is on the 3rd floor Arusha Savannah, near the elevators. Close to pretty much everything.

I would recommend the Zebra Trail. I'm pretty sure we could see Zebra from our balcony.

Anyway, the elevator that goes to the pool/Mara's is on the Zebra trail. This way you don't have to worry about crossing the lobby to get to the pool or to go to Mara's.

The lower two floors tend to have a less obstructed view than the upper floors because of the tree canopies.

Don't worry, you will love the resort. It is our favorite hands down.

You will not have to share the bus with any other resort which makes it really nice.
