$174 per night in October at RPR with an APH rate! Can't beat that anywhere on WDW property with no room only discounts for that period and a free dining blackout! It's only $5 more than staying at the Pop!

Depends on when you go, of course. I think out of all the times I've stayed at Pop, there's only one instance where I paid more than $100/night. Of course, it helps that I'm a FL resident and can choose to go at slower times of the year. I'd LOVE to stay on property at Uni, but my wallet just won't allow it.

I've stayed at the poly and contemp, and royal pacific and hard rock. The deluxes at universal are right in line with those at Disney. I can never get close to the universal rates at Disney though. I travel in the offseason usually September. In 2001 I stayed Hard rock for 110.00 a night and poly for 179.00 a night. I can still get the hardrock for under 200 a night at universal today(September). I can't get the poly for under 300 a night at Disney anymore.

They said they stayed there in 2001 for that price.

Yeah, if it was 2001...especially if it was September...then that's probably why the price was so low.

You can check the AP rates at Uni by using the code aph when you search to see the discounts. They don't always show up if your trip is a ways off.

But the APs do save a lot. We have Royal Pacific for $159 the next-to-last week of August...and that includes unlimited Express Pass for all five of us.

I just bought one Power Pass AP, which cost about $25 more than the 3-day tickets the rest of my family has.

That's a great rate! That is why I am leaning more universal's way anymore. If you are on a budget and flexible when you want to go the accommodations are reasonable for deluxe.

Yep same-I think RP was $99 when we stayed.

This was before FOTL so it's gone up partly because of that IMO. My niece and new hubby paid like $300 last sept for one night.

RP was not deluxe at all IMO-maybe they rebuilt it since then?

Even HRH was nicer but didn't seem overly deluxe. The rooms where similar decor to BLT-but a BLT 1BR with the kitchen and 2 baths is amazing.

I guess it depends on your idea of "deluxe". I don't need a kitchen if I am going to theme parks. I only need one of those when we stay on the coast and I'm cooking up some fresh seafood.

Oh I agree-the real deluxe of Waldorf and Four Seasons is beyond compare to any of these.

But like you said the proximity is more important-so they will never be on our radar even if super cheap. That's not why we visit the area.

But I also don't thinking having a kitchen makes a room less deluxe. Standing around a fridge full of beer and horderves is a nice option IMO.

The Universal resorts have suites if your looking for something comparable to a 1 bedroom at BLT. A standard room and a 1 bedroom aren't really comparable.

Yes as do the WDW deluxe resorts. DVC has added to the "suite" biz at a very fast pace.

This. We actually saved a great deal of money getting the AP and only one person in each of our rooms needed one.
