Holy Cow! Tutto Italia prices!

They seem to want to price the average vacationer out! However, as long as people are willing to pay $40 - $60 for pasta, they will be willing to charge it. The problem is that if they can stay busy at these prices, soon all the rest of the restaurants in EPCOT will start going up in price as well.
I guess it's time to sit around the pool at the resort and order in a pizza!!!

i guess the DDP would be a benefit with only 1 TS used. I can see it changing to 2 to get in line with prices at CRT or other 2 TS dinners. The price at CRT dinner would probably be in line with this restaurant. As long as it is a 1 TS it will be a bargain.

DH and I dined there Saturday for lunch. We had changed our ADR's from dinner to lunch after I saw the prices and decided I wanted DH to not have a heart attack when he got the bill, lol:rotfl2: . It is 39.99 per person. The service was ridicously slow, it rained while we were there so it did not matter to us too much but I did get really twitchy sitting there after a while. We chose to order seperate meals and an Antipasto...forgetting that this was not greek, lol! When it arrived DH asked what it was and where was the lettuce :rotfl2: . We giggled and laughed our way through the meal. He had egg noodles with sauce and I had the lasagna. Lemonade was 4.50 and sodas were 3.00 but they did not refill them unless asked. I am not sure about the Lemonade, DH wanted the fountain kind and got it from a bottle, when we asked for refills he got the fountain kind??? The meal was good but not served very hot more lukewarm and it was not busy so I am not sure why it was so slow. :confused3 As others on the boards have said it looked as though the carpet was new, or cleaned or perhaps because the tables were moved you could actually see it??? The tables were much more spread out which was nice. We thanked our lucky stars that we ate there now and not when we take the DCherubs at Christmas. We can say we have been there, done that, but will not be going back. I am not sure if we would do this restaurant again even if we were on the dining plan, it was just OK to us. Very pricey for what we got.

I guess I'm in the minority but those prices seem to be on par with the fine Italian restaurants I've eaten at.
p.

My Italian DH grew up in Chambersburg, NJ, home of some of the finest Italian restaurants in NJ (and that's saying something). Many of the restaurants cater to the Trenton lobbyists (dining on expense accounts) and none would stay in business with prices that ridiculous for those menu items.

A $12 cannoli? No way.

At these prices I could eat at Narccoossee's and pay full price for dinner without the DDP. Some of the 2 credit restaurants have prices this high for dinner- I wouldn't dream of paying cash for it.

Sure, maybe it's a good value on the DDP but I wouldn't dine here, even on the DDP. Nothing on the menu excites me at all and some of it, I don't even like b/c it's too odd...

I don't think that even the "above average" vacationer will pay this. If this was the case at every restaurant, the cost for feeding a family of 4 with cash for a day including 3 meals would run close to $500 a day...nobody would pay that.

Even rich people know when they are being had and this is a clear situation. 40 bucks for pasta and chicken is outrageous. That doesn't even include drinks or tax/tip.

is there a list some where on here that states whats included if you have the DDP and what you must pay for OOP?

We just returned from the world yesterday and we ate here on Thursday evening. We had an 8:45 reservation and were in the area at 8:00 and thought we would see if we could check in early and to our surprise they took us right away. I must say it is a beautiful restaurnat and looks almost exactly as it did when it was Alfredo's.

My husband and I both ordered the mozzarella/tomato entree. I asked instead of having olive oil on it if I could have balsamic vinegar and they did it no problem. It was very good. Large red tomatoes with big slices of fresh mozzarella and a sprig of basil.

Call us crazy but we got the steak (I know in an italian restaurant!) and it was fair. There was quite a bit of fat. The potatoes (thick cut potatoes that were fried) were very greasy and neither of us ate them. I know we should have got pasta, but we were both in the mood for steak. Liv and learn!

The service was just fair (granted it was late in the evening and they probabally wanted to get home). We felt a little rushed and nothing on the menu was explainded to us and we had to wait a long time for refills after we asked for them.

When we ordered dessert I got the cheesecake and it was just OK, my husband didn't care for his at all (can't remember the name but it had a marange and dried fruit). I took a bite an agreed with his opinion.

I know all food is suject to personal taste, but personally I won't be returning. Especially at the prices they are charging for out of pocket. We won't be doing the dining plan next year due to the changes so I am glad I tried it while I could.

I hope we just had an off night because it really does have a beautiful atmosphere, and the potential to be fantastic.

If you have any questions jsut let me know.

For those prices they aren't entitled to an "off" night.

Thanks for sharing your experience! :)

Ir you want to spend that kind of money, I suggest Il Mulino :thumbsup2

Why would it be insane??? CRT is $39.99 for lunch??? And more then likely a lot less food!

That's exactly how I feel! There are plenty of WDW restaurants that are expensive. Not only that but people keep saying it costs $40. That's one option. You can get an entree at lunch for an average of less than $20 and one at dinner for an average of less than $25. That's not all that strange to me, from my Disney experience. Besides which, nobody said anybody HAS to eat here. I don't get the complaining. As if Disney has personally slighted each and every person who posted here.

I have heard rumors that prices will be going up in all Disney sponsored restaurants very soon. Perhaps, since this is a new establishment, they decided to implement the new price increase from the get-go here? Just a theory...

CRT is overpriced. But it's in CINDERELLA CASTLE - you can't exactly eat there anywhere else. The price also includes a photo package.

Nobody is saying that this place is the only overpriced restaurant in WDW, but I don't know of any other with a $16 caesar salad that doesn't even include chicken.

If that is the case, we will be eating offsite for breakfast and dinner. Lunch on property will be CS. I will miss the sitdowns and character meals, but the value would simply no longer be there.

In fact, this may cause us to stay off property since we'd be so often driving off property.

For the love of all things good and holy, enough with the Caesar salad people! A. It's not supposed to have chicken on it (but they do offer that as an add-on) and B. It was created in Mexico! Now I can see why those horrible CS restaurants are all over the place serving burgers and fries because, for some God-awful reason, people don't want to experience actual food.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I feel I’m very familiar with actual food. With a mother from Sweden, growing up in Hawaii and experiencing a lot of time in Europe I feel I’ve been exposed to a broad variety and foods that have been well prepared.

I too agree that the CS is not all that great. However, I find most of the ethnic food at WDW to be much Americanized, sometimes good/sometimes not so good. Therefore I expect to pay a price similar to other Americanized ethnic restaurants; PF Changs, Macaroni Grill, etc. In fact, I expect to pay a bit more because I’m on WDW property.

When I’m in Stockholm, or Vienna, I have no problem paying $$$ for a well prepared meal. Having said that, I love finding the little out of the way places that provide exceptional value and use local ingredients and time tested traditions. Those are my favorite spots as I don’t equate $$$ with a top notch dining experience.
