Holy Cow! Tutto Italia prices!

We are scratching Italy off our list of maybe's. I wouldn't pay out of pocket for food that expensive at Disney, what happened to the fettucine, Chicken Parm & the spagetti and meatballs?

Cannoli - crisp pastry filled with sweet ricotta, chocolate and candied orange $12

$12 for a cannoli?!?!? That's absurd. Yeah, I know it's WDW and prices are higher than what we'd pay at home, but that's about a 400% markup over what I'd pay at a good, local Italian bakery.

I agree - and hope that crazy prices are not some sort of spin off of the DDP - 'cause it seems to me the only people eating there would be on the DDP or a millionaire! :confused3

It looks like the price is for 2 people. the appetizer says it feeds 2 or more.
1 apetizer, 2 entres, and 1 dessert.

still very pricey!

I thought it was $39.99 per person. If that's for two people I may change my mind. Anyone know for sure?

That's the one that really made me go :scared: as well. The entrees are around $25 which is not too bad, but the appetizers are very expensive and gosh, I want to know what's so special about that $16 chicken-less ceasar salad.:lmao:

The entrees also don't include sides. Add another $8/$10 per side.

Just made ADR for next week. We will be using the plan and it is one credit. So I am not upset about the price. Otherwise, we would not eat there. Would be too expensive for us if we were not on the plan and we stay away from using two credits for one meal. Looking forward to trying to the food. I feel like we have nothing to loose!

As an FYI Tutto is a non-Disney owned restaurant so the 18% grat. is based upon the cost of the dining plan $38.99/10.99 as opposed to the actual cost which could easily be $70 a person. I believe that receipts now indicate how much the server is actually getting.

The price is per person. You get to pick 2 entrees as part of the family style but the cost is still per person.

I guess I'm in the minority but those prices seem to be on par with the fine Italian restaurants I've eaten at. I guess we'll just have to wait for some more reviews before we can say if it's worth the money or not.

I think Disney was trying to do two things with this restaurant: 1. Add another more classy option to Epcot and 2. Make the food more authentic. I heard horrible reviews from the restaurant that used to be there. It was supposedly mediocre, Americanized food. I'm sorry but deep fried chicken with canned tomotoe sauce over pre-packed pasta is not by any means authentic Italian food. So, kudos to Disney for their efforts if nothing else. Now if only they would do something to fix the authenticity of the CS restaurant in Mexico. Horrible!

I'm pretty sure you get two entrees with each payment of $39.99. Maybe someone whose been their and asked can tell us for sure.

As for the price of the sides, it's not really that bad depending on what they are. I mean, they may consider a side to be a fresh seafood dish. We're not talking french fries and mashed potatoes here.

I know that I'm sticking up for a restaurant I've never been to, but I will definitely give them the benefit of the doubt if it means the possibility of adding something tasty and interesting to the WDW restaurant line-up.

According to Linda Mac's review on allears, the side dish of the day during her visit was sauteed zucchini for $8. She liked the meal and service, but admitted it was a pricey lunch. Lunch for my family of 5 would easily go over $200. Since we don't do the DDP, I can't justify the expense, especially since we can have a wonderful meal at Mangino's at SOG for less than half of that cost.

Maybe it's a geographical thing, but the TI menu wouldn't qualify as "fine Italian" in my neck of the US. The menu is a step up from Olive Garden (and from the restaurant it replaced, from what I've heard), but that's not saying much.

Dude... That's more expensive than Piccolo Angolo in the West Village!! And they have homemade authentic Italian food (you can barely understand the owner the accent's so thick!) there!!!

This one's definitely off the wish list. I'll save my pennies for Piccolo Angolo. :)

From the limited reviews I've read so far, that's actually not what I heard at all. The company that owns it is actually quite well known for its food. Again, I'll have to reserve judgement until I try it. That's my motto with everything Disney. To me, the menu sounds quite appetizing.

This is copied directly from allears:

Family Table

Abbondanza lunch menu is served on platters, family-style, for the whole table.
Includes choice of one appetizer, two entrees, and bugie dessert

10 and over $39.95

9 and under $14.95

I take "10 and over $39.95" to mean everyone who is 10 and over pays $39.95.

And with the prices for entrees as they are I doubt that they would be having any fresh seafood sides for $8. I would bet money that they will be veggies.

We don't mind paying for great food, & have eaten many meals that were priced higher than the TI menu. What we won't do is pay that much OOP, when the same meal only requires 1 TS credit on the DDP. As I noted earlier, it's a great deal for those on the DDP. If we're not on the DDP, we'll patronize the nicer restaurants that aren't affected by the dining plan. Of course, that's just what makes sense to us. I'm sure there's many who feel differently.

They seem to want to price the average vacationer out! However, as long as people are willing to pay $40 - $60 for pasta, they will be willing to charge it. The problem is that if they can stay busy at these prices, soon all the rest of the restaurants in EPCOT will start going up in price as well.
I guess it's time to sit around the pool at the resort and order in a pizza!!!

I LOVE Piccolo Angolo...sooooo yummy! And yes, it is more reasonable than Tutto...
