We have a reservation for Tusker house for lunch, but my sons would love, to meet, Handy Manny, OSO, Jake and June.

When is a good time for Hollywood & Vine. We will be at Rope Drop for TSM, any idea. Is it worth it

thanks

When we went to Hollywood and Vine, it was my least favorite meal at Disney Ever. PERIOD. The food wasn't good, the characters were rushed, the service from the server all the way down to the hostess was horrible. Having said that, we went back for dinner that night, because we already had reservations and didn't have a choice- we had the Fantasmic Package and didn't get our tickets if we didn't eat ther again. The food was better, the service was better, but there were no characters. Sorry, I don't have better news.

ditto, bad breakfast. Well, we didn't think the food was that bad...but certainly was nothing special, and we felt there was less choices at that breakfast buffet than there is at other Disney breakfast buffets. The juice was served warm (actually warm...and apparently it's always that way, because after she sat it down in front of us, the waitress says.."Oh, that juice is always warm in the morning, would you like some ice for that?" Duh. Who drinks warm juice?) Worst, by far worst, service we've ever had. That iced juice did not make it back to our table until we were ready to leave 30 min. later. So no beverage entire meal. No one cleared the table...even though there was barely 20 tables occupied and loads of servers standing at the back chatting with each other.

If you're trying to go to the early breakfast and make it to rope drop ....DON"T. Won't happen. We had a 8;05 ADR. Didn't get seated until 8.20 (not because they were busy...they weren't.) And then we barely made it out before 9:00 because server messed up the check twice (and actually thought we were rude because we wanted it corrected!)

The characters were cute, but don't think it was worth the cost.

By the way, just a heads up: Plan on being at DHS at least 30 min before official opening, and be ready that they may open early with no announcement. Hollywood Studios has been doing this bit where they actually open the turnstyles like 15-20 minutes before park opening, and then the park is just open: there's no rope drop, no opening ceremony, nothing at all...you just walk on back to Toy Story or Rock N Roller Coaster, etc. And the rides are going...was like that 2 weeks ago, in the middle of the week. Was not an EMH day, and was not a busy day either (before Winter break/ Spring break crowds)

I probably wouldn't do an early breakfast ADR since service can be unpredictable and not waiting for 2 hours to ride Toy Story or getting a fast pass for 6 hours later is part of the plan. Maybe you can get a 10 am breakfast ADR to eliminate the preceding predicament.

That being said, I have never eaten breakfast at H&V but I have been for lunch. The service was terrible. Good thing it was a buffet or I think we would have starved waiting for service. We did walk out thirsty since we only got drinks once. We only saw our server twice, to bring the first and only round of drinks and to pick up her automatic 18 percent gratuity (party of 6). The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't terrific. My husband thought it was good :confused3 (to each his own).

What made the experience worth it for my husband and I was to see the kids interact with the characters (which didn't seem rushed) and the parade and "party" they had during lunch which the kids really enjoyed. My family has eaten there twice and we have made another ADR for our trip in July.

P.S. If the service is still as horrible as everyone says, the server will not be getting the automatic 18 percent tip becuase the manager and I will have to have a discussion at that point.

Hope this helps. Have fun on your trip!!!

Our experience at H&V back in Aug 2011 was the polar opposite of the pps. We had an AMAZING breakfast at H&V. The food was great (on par with faves like Crystal Palace) the service was excellent (had an 8:05a and was out by 8:55a so we made rope drop and got fastpasses for TSMM), and the character interaction was incredible. We got double visits from every character and they were so much more interactive and hands on than most of our other character experiences. Our girls also got up and danced a few times. I even got to drive Rocket with Leo (i.e. before Jake added). :thumbsup2 We would DEFINITELY return! :goodvibes

We have been to H&V breakfast 3 times now and have always enjoyed it. The characters do an interactive show with the kids, they spend plenty of time at the table, and in general do a great job. I agree that the food is just regular (nothing special like the juice at Tusker, or Tonga Toast, etc) but it was a decent breakfast buffet.

If you are planning to TSM rope drop, I would recommend a 10:30 reservation. That should give you plenty of time to get TSM and maybe even Star Tours done before you go to breakfast.

One tip on getting out of any buffet quickly though is to ask for the check as soon as you sit down. I have never had a server give me a problem over this and it saves a lot of time when you are ready to go.

WE went for lunch over Christmas and we really enjoyed it. The food was good and my kids loved the characters.

We did the character breakfast there in April 2010 and had a great experience. The characters made several trips to our table and we though there was a good variety of food. The food was very good too. I guess it's like all restaurants.....some have a good experience while others don't. We'll definitely go back.
