We did not care for the buffet and the atmosphere. We went several years ago so it may be different now but we have not returned. We did the dining package and could have had better seats if we'd just gone there earlier and waited... which is what we did the next time. We bought fruit salads at the produce stand right outside the stadium, went in one hour early and added hot dogs and pretzels to our dinner. We had great seats in the center. The wait wasn't all that bad, our kids were pretty young and we had stashed an extra bag in a locker that day with warmer clothes (it was Feb) and the kid's gameboys so they had something to do.
I do not like H&V...I originally booked lunch there - just because my DD wants to see Oso..but then I switched it to a late breakfast...how badly can they mess up breakfast?
For the F! package, we always do Brown Derby or Mama Melrose.
We went in October and my DD loved the place. They loved to dance around with the caracters but had very little to eat. The food was far from perfect but it was not has bad as I imagine. Lots of cold salads, cold cut sandwiches, sweet meetballs, chicken breast in some sauce. I don't think it's worth a TS, if It was a CS, I would do it in a heart beat but TS, not so much.
Wow - I'm surprised to hear all the negative reviews. We went there for the first time in November and were quite pleased. They had a good variety to choose from - especially for a lunch buffet. We really enjoyed the chicken dishes and DS2 got to see Manny and Oso. I would definitely eat there again.
we went there for the 1st time last oct. and were pleasantly surprised as well. no, there's no exciting theming, but the food was good, it was also hot, something we've had issues w/ at other wdw buffets. service was passable, probably the only almost shortcoming. we would go back again.

I agree with you- it's great! I've been there at least 3 times for dinner and love the food. I can't comment on lunch, but, dinner is nothing like cafeteria food. There's always a good salmon dish, sweet hawaiian like chicken dish, carved meat, to name a few. Yes, the atmosphere is nothing special but who cares. It's easy to get a table because most people are probably turned off by the looks. I like the food- but everyone has different likes and dislikes.
We never have had a problem with H&V. Our wait staff has always been promt and effiicient. The kids who are picky have always enjoyed themselves and we have had no complaints withthe food. That being said it isn't a must do now that we have cut back on our ADRs (Disney food pricing is just getting over the top esp when you have a large party like I do) but I did get a Fantasmic package for our upcoming trip.
H & V is one of only 2 restaurants in all of WDW we will never return to.
The hot food was not hot, the cold food was not cold. We were surrounded by dirty, unbused tables and our waitress was RUDE. Only time that has ever happened. The Ladies Room was fiflthy.
Never Again

You must have been there on an off day during a very busy season. The waitstaff is always very efficient for us. As for the bathroom- it is shared with the 50's cafe next door. Not that it's an excuse but I am just saying. But, personally, I never found it filthy.
This May will be our 3rd time using H&V for the Fantasmic Dining Plan. By no means would I consider this buffet to be on the top of any list. But the food is good and we all like it. None of the other restaurants really appeal to my family. We always end up w/ good seats as well. Yes you are off to the right, but we always get there as soon as they let people in w/ the Dining Package and get as close to the left end of the seating so we are closer to the center of the theater. My motto is to always try something once before listening to everyone else's opinions.
