I have not read alot of reviews on Hollywood & Vine ...
the few I read, some did not like...

has anyone gone recently and loved/liked it ? if so what did you like about it ...any suggestions on what to order ?
thanks !

It's a buffet...so you shouldn't need to order anything except drinks (unless there is a special dietary concern)

We went there as part of a Fantasmic package. The food was good, I think they share a kitchen with Prime-Time next door. It was the atmosphere and noise that I didn't like. It felt like a high school cafeteria, tables were close and it was very noisy. Food was good though.

If you like buffets, it should be sufficient. We went there for the Fantasmic package last year and I thought the variety was pretty good as well as the types of food offered, but I just wasn't in the mood for a lot of it. I'm 25 and wound up eating a lot of chicken nuggets and veggies from the kid's section.

What got me was we were on the free dining plan and this was the last TS credit we were using--after all the great meals we had every where else, this was a let down and felt like a waste (especially after missing our reservation time and having to wait like 45 mins. for a table to open up). Had we eaten there sooner in the trip or not done all those other TS restaurants, I think it would've been just fine.

i like hollywood and vine. its nothing spectacular but the food was more than acceptable and, in my opinion, much better than crystal palace. there was some kind of mustard salmon dish the night we were there and it was fantastic and my dad really enjoyed the pineapple chicken dish. the only bad thing was that the first table we were seated at was not clean. at all. it smelled quite bad. ive read a few reviews about the lack of cleanliness of this restaurant and i would agree. so, other than that, i'd say its a good choice.

My family went 2 years ago and we all loved the food and the atmosphere. I guess eveyone is different, so you wont know until you try it yourself.

It was one of our most favorite character breakfasts!!! Our kids are young, they LOVED seeing JoJo and Goliath and June and Leo!! But the food was GREAT! It wasn't super busy there neither which was GREAT! It gets so noisy in some of the character buffets! Our waiter was AWESOME! We tipped him more than any other place we had been to.

I had read some pretty aweful reviews as well. Granted we did the breakfast, and not lunch of dinner. We had a fantastic time and it will be missed this Oct when we do the Quick Service DP.

Most buffet food is the same, but we didn't go for the food, we went to see the characters. My kids DD9 and DD5 loved it.

It's a buffet like many already said, to get the Fantasmic package it worth it. It was better than CP, but Tusker House is a much nicer meal. The resturant seems too busy, yet much of the food was cold. Our server was rushed and tried his best but had too many tables to cover. You will find something for everyone and will leave full just couldn't recomend it as a resurant except to get the prefered seating and Fantasmic.

I've eaten there around 4+ times (dinner buffet) and was pleased every time...

It is the least expensive of the F! dining packages, (we've done that before).

I think it works best for large groups, with picky kids... We (at last visit) were family of 5... with Me, DH, DS (picky), DSD1 (VERY PICKY) and DSD2 (decided to be vegetarian that year)....

So my challenge was to find something where everyone would get plenty to eat... H&V fit the bill... I loved the salads and Salmon. DH...the ribs. Kids loved the Boiled Shrimp, the Kids bar, and OF COURSE "Make your own Sundae"...

I would eat there again if I had the same challenges and wanted F! package... But will probably try MM's next visit as I have not yet tried it as well as Sci Fi...
Hope that helps !

I'm in the minority here. We went twice (we always try to give each restaurant two tries in case of an "off" night). Well, we're sorry that we did with H&V. It was even worse the second time than it was the first time. The food was lukewarm and mediocre at best (and that's when there was food to get...half the spots were always empty and took forever to replace); the service was terrible (over 20 minutes to get our drinks); the restaurant was filthy (sticky tables, sticky floors, crumbs everywhere. We won't ever go back.

But I usually tell people that they should try each place themselves as everyone has different tastes, expectations, etc. However, I would never recommend H&V or Whispering Canyon Cafe).

We were at H&V in December. I had very low expectations going into this meal after reading the reviews on the board. We had a good meal - not amazing but good. We were there for dinner. It was a bit noisy and bright but the food was decent.

Here are a few pictures of our plates:

Desserts

Everyone found at least one thing they really liked - DD was the mussels; DP was the broccoli slaw with soy nuts; DS was the pork and chicken and mine was the garlic parmesan mashed potatoes.

Hope this helps some. :)

we've gone twice and enjoy it. i dont know why it gets a bad rap, but before last year we had only been to 2 sit down meals at disney 5 yrs ago. we did the F! package last year and went just for dinner in april. since it's not as popular as other places both times it has been very quiet. in april, only one side of the buffet was open, no need for both sides. i found a fair amount of food and i have dietary restrictions and am picky.

we will be spending lunch time on valentines day with handy manny for ds3. go figure! lol
